Responsibilities

The role manages the global Accounts Payable departments and owns full responsibility for daily functions within Credit to include assessing credit risk, establishing credit limits.  Must ensure strong internal control environment is maintained by adherence to departmental policies and procedures as well as company policies. Supports the account management responsibilities by acting as an advocate for all new and existing customers and suppliers through relationship building with their accounting teams to ensure questions and/or concerns are addressed in a timely manner.

• Monitor AP performance and completion of department goals and provide monthly measurement feedback of AP performance
• Process weekly payments.  Enforce all company internal controls to prevent incorrect or fraudulent payments
• Analyze customer financial condition to assess credit risk and provide analysis on their financials
• Establish, communicate, and enforce HGS Credit policy and procedures to company personnel
• Work closely with IT to resolve any system issues or suggest system improvements.  This includes participation at times in development process, creation of test plan, and testing of system upgrades
• Act as audit lead for Accounts Payable and direct department activities to ensure all audit requests are met
• Perform monthly Accounts Payable close
• Lead and participate on various assigned projects.
• Annual 1099 processing

Desired Skills & Experience

• BS degree (or equivalent work experience)
• 5+ years' Credit & AP experience 
• Strong leadership skills
• Strong verbal/written communication skills
• Proven account analysis
• Proven account reconciliation
• Outstanding attention to detail
• Basic knowledge of financial statements
• Proficient with ERP System – Finance (JD Edwards  or SAP)
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel & Outlook

Additional preferred skills & experience 

• Accounting related background (minimum 5 years’ experience) including Credit & Collections, AR and AP
• Prior experience managing a team
• Payment Processing
• Establishing credit limits
• Preparing credit, AR & AP month-end reports
• Proficient with JD Edwards finance module, version 8.10 or greater (A/R, A/P, Credit)
• Advanced Excel
• A/P Automation Software
• Credit services such as Dun & Bradstreet Reporting and Google Alerts
