Summary of Responsibilities:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining the general ledger, including underlying accounts and supporting analysis/documentation, accurate and timely closes and reporting (GAAP and management) to assist the executive management team in managing the business. The Senior Accountant will help prepare, review and analyze the financial statements including P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow and other reports as necessary. This role also includes supervisory and review responsibilities.
Detailed Responsibilities:
- Responsibility Area:
- Assist in the preparation, review, and reporting of financial statements through the month-end close process
- Guide the month-end close process and related activities, including journal entries, adjustments, expense accruals, revenue and inventory entries, and account reconciliations
- Review assigned work papers prepared by Staff Accountant(s), as well as prepare complex work papers and reconciliations
- Review monthly financial statements to ensure operating expenses are recorded properly; provide explanations of unusual trends and key variances to budget
- Prepare weekly and monthly operating statements and balance sheets, ensuring that financial statements are complete and accurate
- Prepare ad hoc reporting or participate in other projects as needed

- Collaborate across functions to support various business initiatives
- Analyze, interpret and summarize financial information for various teams on a weekly, monthly and annual basis
- Partner with various teams to increase understanding and awareness of financial performance and support company initiatives
- Maintain a high quality and professional level of customer service to internal customers

- Participate in and support continual process improvement initiatives
- Understand, document, and assist in the development of the company's accounting processes and procedures
- Research various process improvement topics and provide recommendations
- Leverage technology to automate and streamline tasks and reporting

- Research, understand, and apply accounting standards
- Maintain an understanding of accounting standards and stay up-to-date with changes as they apply to the company
- Research various accounting topics and provide recommendations
- Interpret and apply knowledge of accounting standards to various new initiatives and revenue streams

- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance is required;
- A CPA is preferred
- At least 2 years of relevant accounting experience
- Proven ability in finance, accounting and US GAAP
- Positive attitude and enthusiasm for the job, with a focus on execution and results
- Analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to evaluate current processes for improvements
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Project management skills; ability to multitask while working with multiple teams
- Team player; willingness to build out functions and processes from scratch; "roll up your sleeves" mentality
