As a Senior Accountant you will be responsible for handling specific areas of accounting, compliance, auditing & bank operations, ensuring the accuracy and timescales of meeting strictly defined deadlines. You will use your accounting knowledge to improve and automate existing processes and assist in system implementation efforts. The role will report to the Accounting Manager and will be part of a team of seven core accounting team members all based in New York that oversees all accounting internationally. This position will have frequent interactions with cross-functional teams within the organization; including FP&A, Billing & Collections and IT. The candidate will be the first member of the accounting team based in the Chicago office and must be able to travel to New York to work with the team.

What you’ll get to do:

• Key member and contributor to the monthly close process including submission and review of monthly entries and analytical review of results
• Oversee daily transactions including general ledger and bank reconciliations
• Review operating expense accounts and AP invoices for accuracy and approval
• Review balance sheet account reconciliations
• Assist with annual financial statement audits by providing analysis and supporting documentation
• Assist with various ad-hoc projects
• Assist in establishing accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency

You should apply if you have most of this: 

• 4-5 years of experience, preferred in public or private accounting
• CPA License
• Proficient with ERP systems, including Microsoft Excel, and experience with accounting software (Intacct preferred)
• Solid understanding of US GAAP
• Experience in a multi-entity accounting environment
• Strong interpersonal skills with others and ability to present results and analysis in a clear and concise manner
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently 
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
