Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Director, Strategic Planning and PMO who will report to the Chief People Strategy Officer. In this role you will orchestrate, align, track and report on all people initiatives within the Global People Function at McDonald’s while also supporting a culture of collaboration through outstanding relationship building, alignment and a commitment to openness. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with positive relationship management capability who has strong financial acumen, program management exposure and the ability to influence senior partners. You will also:
- Develop and manage a simple, consistent way of defining metrics and tracking value of initiatives.
- Provide independent oversight of initiatives to ensure all activities are aligned to McDonald’s Velocity Strategy and the Global People Strategy ensuring the requisite focus on the right areas—and clarifying what is low value so they stop that work.
- Manage the pipeline of initiatives providing clarity on actions, owners, interdependencies and dollars at stake.
- Support a culture of collaboration through outstanding partnerships: IT, Legal, Communications, Operations, COEs, Markets, etc. to ensure alignment and support of People plans , including People Technology
- Ensure the CPO, People Strategy Officer, and GPLT have a ‘single source of truth,’ a transparent view of what flows through the pipeline and an understanding of the progress of each initiative owner.
- Spot potential conflicts or overlaps among work streams, work with GPLT members and market CPOs to achieve the best outcome for the business.
- Establish a regular rhythm and drumbeat of the Global People Function, ensuring high-quality meetings together with strategic and financial planning and communications.
- Be a champion for ‘great execution,’ leading all aspects of activity and providing mentoring so the job gets done while understanding that ownership for execution of initiatives rests with individual GPLT members.
- Ensure that all aligned and agreed upon activities are appropriately funded; take lead on handling financial planning for the Function and tracking the value.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration or equivalent experience. Advanced degree/MBA preferred.
- Experience in a forward-thinking leadership role.
- Understanding of the human resources function.
- Experience in a senior role in a TMO or PMO of a large corporation—or exposure in a large consultancy.
- Knowledge of current and contemporary market trends and practices within other industries is ideal.

- Must have strong program management, strategic planning and financial acumen.
- Commercial experience—possibly will have spent time in the finance or strategic planning area of a corporation—strong cross-functional background.
- Great problem solver with ability to join the dots.
- Intellectual ability to understand the content and to make connections.
- High emotional quotient and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Credibility and maturity to engage on the same level with senior executives
