Senior Financial Analyst at Morningstar
The Team: Morningstar's Finance team is responsible for planning, forecasting, and analyzing the company's financial results. The team works collaboratively with our business groups to support our strategy and growth initiatives and help make informed business decisions to create value.
The Role: Morningstar`s Financial Planning and Analysis team seeks a Senior Financial Analyst to be the finance lead for the Investment Management group in the US region. Investment Management is a global business with over 350 employees and 49 billion of assets under management and advisement. In this role, you will work closely with finance, Investment Management group leaders and corporate accounting functions to understand and resolve financial issues. In addition, you will gain extensive experience with financial systems and reporting, build relationships with senior management, and work on special projects as necessary. This position reports to the Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis and is based in our Chicago office.
Job Responsibilities• Complete ownership of the financial planning, reporting and budgeting process for the Investment Management group for the US region.• Effectively interact with business to help lead budget, planning and forecast formulation and execution.• Leads monthly reporting by gathering and analyzing data, actual/projections variances and providing information with insights.• Perform ad-hoc analysis and provide support on special projects as needed.• Assist in creating and maintaining internal financial reporting packages and materials for meetings. Present financial results to group heads on a monthly basis.• Partner with our business group colleagues to help them gain better insight into their business. Identify and implement improvement in business processes.• Participate in cross-functional project teams formed to address business process improvements in the financial planning & budgeted processes.
Qualifications• Five years of experience in a financial planning and analysis and/or accounting-related position with a bachelor's degree; CPA/MBA a plus.• Understanding of the Asset Management industry is strongly preferred.• Candidates should be excellent communicators, detail-oriented and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.• Strong team player with demonstrated relationship building skills who will roll up his or her sleeves to get the job done.• Solid Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills required; knowledge of Hyperion and Oracle preferred.
