West Monroe Partners (WMP) has an immediate opportunity for a Senior Manager to help deepen our Finance Operations consulting practice. This is a dynamic role that will work closely with our clients to improve processes, provide advisory on finance operations, and apply best practices to their organization. This role will also have an opportunity to work with other WMP practice areas like M&A, and Advanced Analytics.
Preferred capabilities:
We are looking for candidates with 8+ years of experience providing finance and operational leadership, supporting large scale process/technology projects and/or other transformational technical initiatives. Candidates should also have experience in helping to develop and/or enhance supporting methodologies and tools, as well as integrating these with other consulting solutions (e.g., technology and vertical practices).
Successful candidates will have experience in/participated in the following types of activities:
- Hands on functional knowledge of at least one ERP solution (knowledge of mid-market ERP landscape a plus)
- Must have been an active team member or PM on at least 5 full-cycle system implementation projects
- Strong functional knowledge within the following areas: Lead to Close, Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, Plan to Produce, Record to Report, Recruit to Retire (any other industry specific knowledge is a plus (e.g., TMS, WMS, PSA, EAM, etc.))
- Software Selection and Platform Strategy experience is a plus
- Organize and coordinate client and WMP functional teams (i.e., demonstrate core project management skills)
- Coordinate with WMP change management teams
- Enable client-specific Finance operational requirements
- Understand and document client processes and requirements
- Facilitate client workshops focused on designing future state business process and requirements
- Identify gaps in system functionality, compared to client’s requirements
- Translate requirements into configurations or process changes, depending on software
- Tailor WMP’s project methodology to specific client needs
- Identify and coordinate data conversion and interfaces
- Lead user testing and acceptance
- Advise clients on best practice enterprise architecture
Senior Managers have three main responsibilities:
Client Delivery:
- As a leader within our Practice, you will be expected to provide delivery oversight on large engagements, manage relationships with c-level buyers and create compelling offerings that are relevant and thought-provoking.
- Fulfill relevant Project Manager duties, including managing overall project plan and managing of the project financials
- Oversee and manage deliverable development – delegating to junior resources, monitoring their work effort, and assisting with (or owning) development when appropriate
- Leading meetings, overseeing and facilitating detailed requirements gathering sessions, and executing workshops
- Manage project economics including: track project budgets, create and deliver invoices, and manage collection process
- Mentor and develop staff on the job and through formal feedback

Practice Development:
- Participate in and support the firmwide team in development and enhancements to the FI methodologies, tools and other collateral
- Actively participate in thought leadership activities such as blogs, white papers and other related efforts
- Collaborate with local office leadership to define how to align practice with office strategy and other practices
- Manage a group of consultants and actively participate in the performance expectation & management process
- Actively participate in recruiting and retaining top quality consultants
Business Development:
- This role entails significant responsibility in developing new business, managing the client relationship at the executive levels while providing direction and oversight to project teams
- Participate in meetings, development of proposals and other efforts related to Finance Operations
- Create work plans, pricing estimates, and risk assessments for opportunities
- Participate in our business development process as a subject matter expert
- Actively build a professional network and affiliate network in the local community
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related discipline (e.g., Finance/Accounting, Supply Chain, Economics, Engineering, Management/Business, Information Technology, MIS, etc.)
- 8-10+ years’ experience managing teams of consultants and technologists
- 8-10+ years of progressive experience in understanding and configuring enterprise systems (any)
- Strong business development and an active professional network of contacts in the local market
- Membership and visibility in relevant professional organizations
- Very experienced in developing work plans, project scopes, pricing estimates, and presentations to assist in selling work to clients. Strong project management methodology background, including schedule, scope, issue and risk management experience
- Prior consulting from either a large/strategic consultancy or internal business systems department is preferred
- Demonstrated success within one or more of West Monroe Partners’ core industries including Energy & Utilities, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Insurance, Consumer Products, Banking and/or Private Equity
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; able to work well with clients and present to C-level executives
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to work permanently in the United States without sponsorship
- Ability to travel up to 70%
Functional Knowledge:
- Hands on functional knowledge of at least one ERP solution (knowledge of mid-market ERP landscape a plus) and/or functional knowledge of at least one CPM system
- Must have been an active team member on at least 5 full-cycle enterprise platform implementations
- Corporate finance functional knowledge within the following areas: Lead to Close, Order to Cash, Plan to Report, Procure to Pay, Plan to Produce, Recruit to Retire (any other industry specific knowledge is a plus (TMS, WMS, PSA, EAM…etc.))
- Understanding of US GAAP
- Experience with financial close/consolidation processes, process improvement reviews, and M&A transactions (integrations, carve-out, best practice advisory)
- Software selection and Platform Strategy a plus experience a plus
