Tax Accountant
Job Title: Tax Accountant
The Team: Morningstar's Finance team is responsible for planning, forecasting, and analyzing the company's financial results. The tax department works collaboratively with other members of the Finance team to deliver bottom line results as well as providing support to our business groups to assist them in making informed decisions.
The Role: This role reports directly to the tax department senior manager and is based in Chicago.
Job Responsibilities
+ Preparation of Federal and state income tax returns and workpapers including book-tax differences, international calculations (FDII, GILTI, BEAT) and state apportionment.
+ Preparation of quarterly income tax installments and processing of payments to tax authorities.
+ Assist with book-tax differences and other workpapers as part of the quarterly U.S. tax provision required for 10Q and 10K reporting.
+ Assist with Federal and state income tax audits including responses to tax notices.
+ Assist with the evaluation of tax planning and incentive opportunities.
+ Participate in other projects or duties as assigned including process improvement within the tax function.
Qualifications
+ Undergraduate degree in accounting (preferably with an emphasis in tax). M.S. in Tax and/or CPA is a plus.
+ 1-3 years of tax experience with public accounting firm (Big 4 preferred) or corporate tax department (of a publicly traded company).
+ Income tax compliance experience.
+ Proficient skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
+ Enthusiastic, self-starter with strong work ethic and excellent organizational skills (particularly as it relates to effectively prioritizing workloads and multi-tasking).
+ Ability to work well under pressure with multiple deadlines is a must.
