Department OverviewMotorola Solutions, Inc. (MSI), has an excellent opportunity in its Global Corporate Tax Function for a Tax Accounting Manager. This role reports into the Senior Manager of Tax Accounting & Compliance. The individual in this position will be a key member of MSI’s global tax accounting and compliance team that works collaboratively with its business partners worldwide. MSI’s global corporate tax function is based in the company’s Chicago headquarters and is supported by regional personnel in Canada, Europe and Asia.
Job Description
Primary objective of the position is to perform various tax accounting and compliance functions, including:
Prepare quarterly and annual income tax accounting provision under ASC 740
Manage the preparation and filing of the US federal, state and local income tax returns, estimated tax payments, and extensions
Collaborate with other members within the Finance organization to align data flow requirements and to optimize efficiency and effectiveness in meeting global reporting and compliance requirements
Assist with the integration and implementation of tax technology tools and data management solutions across the Global Tax function, including tax planning, compliance, and reporting
Manage the external service provider and assist the shared service center team members to ensure timely tax return filing in Non-US jurisdictions
Support the shared service center team members with the non-US entities’ tax accounting tasks, including return to provision and deferred tie-out
Assist in analyzing and implementing tax law changes
Conduct technical research and documentation as needed
Assist on domestic income tax audits as needed
Support tax planning, M&A, and special projects as needed
Additional Knowledge/Skills
Bachelors in Accounting or Finance
4+ years of large multinational corporate income tax accounting and income tax compliance experience required (a combination of Big 4 and industry preferred)
Strong knowledge of ASC 740, as well as financial and accounting principles and theory
Strong capabilities to think strategically and analytically, identify issues and opportunities, solve problems
Ability to practically apply tax knowledge to produce quantitative models, well-supported tax positions and sound business-oriented tax advice
Effective organizational, project management skills and ability to initiate and run projects independently
Effective written and verbal communications skills at both tax technical and non-technical business levels
Experience with CorpTax compliance and tax provision software preferred
Experience with Alteryx, a plus
Proficient in MS-Word and Excel, HFM (Hyperion Financial Management) and Oracle a plus
