Is There Such a Thing As Agile Human Resources?

Are you passionate about educating employees about company benefits?

Groupon’s mission is to become the daily habit in local commerce and fulfill our purpose of building strong communities through thriving small businesses by connecting people to a vibrant, global marketplace for local services, experiences and goods. In the process, we’re positively impacting the lives of millions of customers and merchants globally. Even with thousands of employees spread across multiple continents, we still maintain a culture that inspires innovation, rewards risk-taking and celebrates success. If you want to take more ownership of your career, then you're ready to be part of Groupon.

You will partner with the business to support the growth and change that we see every single day. We work in various Centers of Excellence across the globe and collaborate together to build from scratch and provide guidance to our partners around the organization. As a young yet evolving company, we’ve grown a robust HR department with dedicated resources for each line of business; yet there are still plenty of ways to impact, change, or improve how our team works.

As the Benefits Administrator on our Compensation & Benefits team, you will serve as the day-to-day employee and vendor-facing contact for Groupon's US and Canadian health and leave benefits. As a part of this role, you will handle all employee communications, leave of absence policies, vendor management, and compliance activities to ensure that our Comp & Ben teams are providing excellent support for our employees. In addition to these areas, you will have your hands on small-scale project management and strategic planning while you collaborate with other HR teams, including HRIS, HR Business Partners, and Compensation.

We're a "best of both worlds" kind of company. We're big enough to have resources and scale, but small enough that a single person has a surprising amount of autonomy and can make a meaningful impact. We're curious, fun, a little intense, and kind of obsessed with helping local businesses thrive. Does that sound like a compelling place to work?

You’ll spend time on the following:

  • Advise employees on day-to-day benefits issues

  • Act as an employee advocate in communications with insurance providers regarding employee coverage issues

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in employee benefits by leading new hire orientation sessions, preparing benefits-related materials for employees, managing the Benefits email inbox, and maintaining our Employee Benefits intranet page

  • Communicate Groupon leave of absence policies and procedures, and partner with HR Business Partners on leave-related issues on an as-needed basis

  • Track employee leaves and provide reporting as needed

  • Coordinate payroll and benefits implications for employees on leave

  • Collaborate with Groupon's legal team on compliance-related questions

  • Work with Benefits Analyst to ensure that employee benefit elections are processed and benefit plans are configured in compliance with applicable law

  • Assist Benefits Analyst with ongoing Affordable Care Act eligibility tracking, Affordable Care Act filings and compliance-related filings

  • Oversee employee data housed in various insurance platforms and audits the same to ensure accuracy

  • Collaborate with the Groupon payroll team to ensure appropriate deductions and payments, and to resolve benefit-related payroll issues

  • Manage monthly billing and assists in annual cost planning

We’re excited about you if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, HR, or a related field

  • 1+ years benefits administration experience or similar experience preferred

  • You have excellent interpersonal communication skills, and can understand and explain complex situations with ease

  • You pay close attention to the details, but are still able to see the bigger picture

  • You appreciate deadlines and are efficient and organized, like a human filing cabinet

  • You have superior customer service and problem-solving skills

  • You have excellent skills in Google Suite (Docs, Calendar, Sheets, Mail) and Microsoft Suite

  • Experience with employee benefit platforms and/or payroll/HRIS systems, including Workday, a plus

Groupon provides a global marketplace where people can buy just about anything, anywhere, anytime. We’re enabling real-time commerce across an expanding range of categories including local businesses, travel destinations, consumer products, and live or lively events. At the same time, we are providing advertising options and tools that merchants can use to grow and manage their businesses. Culturally, we believe that great people make great companies and that starting with the customer and working backward moves us forward. Community matters to us on an internal, local and global scale—it’s fundamental to our company’s growth and to the well-being of the world at large. We also value self-awareness, candor, lunch and WiFi. If we match with you, please apply to join us.
