Director – Learning & Development

Job Description

3Cloud is growing exponentially and is looking to add its first Director of Learning & Development to the HR team to build out and own world-class development programs for our word-class team members.  By “Development Programs” we mean programs ranging from Training (e.g., new hire, new manager) to Mentoring to Performance Management.  This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who fundamentally understands how Development programs can help people unleash their potential and is excited to build a wide range of programs from scratch.  Your primary responsibility will be to think strategically about how we can support our people’s growth, collaborate with leadership and team members alike to truly understand needs and prioritize the efforts, and then dive in to make things happen.  Keys to your success will be:  having a bias for action, supreme collaboration skills, ability to multi-task, willingness to roll up your sleeves, understanding of change management, and true passion for and interest in how development programs can really open up a new world for people on their professional development journey.

About Us

3Cloud is a “born in the cloud” Gold-Certified Microsoft Azure technology consulting firm and Azure Expert Managed Services Provider that provides cloud strategy, design, implementation, acquisition and ongoing managed services to its clients across various industries.  To meet the needs of its clients, 3Cloud offers comprehensive services across Cloud Infrastructure, DevOps & Automation, Cloud Application Development and Data, Analytics and AI.  Founded by former Microsoft technology leaders, 3Cloud uniquely offers: (1) highly experienced and proven cloud architects and technologists, (2) strong business strategy, financial acumen and operational proficiency and (3) deep relationship and network into Microsoft engineering and field leadership.  3Cloud is headquartered in Chicago, but we are a remote-first organization that works with clients throughout the US.

Key Responsibilities
You will partner with the CPO to ensure that Learning & Development ideas support the company strategy.  Among the responsibilities are:

  • Identifying and evaluating organizational development needs, leaning on the deep relationships that you build throughout all levels of the organization
  • Determining what should be home-grown vs. created (and potentially delivered by) a vendor/partner
  • Proposing company-wide programs to meet needs, in a manner that is in keeping with the company’s culture and with an eye for scale
  • Project managing program development and implementation, including developing and executing on Change Management plans to ensure successful implementations
  • Truly owning and managing programs on-going, which also includes assessing their effectiveness and adjusting as necessary, identifying new needs as our organization evolves, etc.
  • Creating and monitoring relevant metrics that will help us measure the impact of our programs
  • Determining ways in which to leverage technology to enable our learning programs
  • Serving as the internal consultant on matters related to development.  This includes partnering with leaders and the HR Business Partners to ensure that programs are appropriately “embedded” within the organization
  • Negotiating pricing

Experience & Skills

Ideally, you will have done something similar in a quickly-growing organization.  Here are some additional skills and experiences that our ideal candidate would have:

  • Experience creating and conducting needs assessments
  • Experience building an array of development programs from the ground, up
  • Change management experience, with a strong appreciation and aptitude for stakeholder management, communication, relationship building, and the like
  • Good understanding of Learning & Development trends that are proven to support adult development
  • Strong knowledge of effective learning and development methods
  • Consulting mindset – able to connect dots, define problem statements, conduct gap analyses, and figure out a plan forward to ensure progress
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Strong relationship-building skills and influence skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to think strategically but equally able to develop and execute tactics
  • Strong time management skills with an ability to multi-task
  • Attention to detail – you recognize that sweating the small stuff can sometimes make the difference between good and great!
  • Strong problem-identification and problem-solving skills
  • Comfort operating in a quickly changing environment
  • Extremely collaborative
  • Thrives on making things happen!
  • Has an appreciation for how important the employee experience is in virtually everything that we, as an HR group, do
