Cognos HR is expanding our HR Consulting team!

We are a Chicago-based HR services (PEO) and consulting firm that helps startups, nonprofits and small businesses support their employees and people operations. We provide HR software, services, employee benefits, strategic consulting and fractional HR support to hundreds of organizations around the country.

With offices in downtown Chicago and Oakbrook Terrace, IL, Cognos HR is a small but mighty group of HR and business experts, passionate about providing the support our clients need to grow their business and help their employees succeed.

The HR Consultant Role:
Our Human Resources Consultants are true business partners for our start-up and SMB clients. Our clients rely on us to be highly engaged in the strategic and day-to-day aspects of their business as we support both leadership and their employees. Cognos HR consultants must possess leadership skills, industry knowledge and willingness to continually learn in order to support the mission and goals of our clients. 

In this role you will be:

• Crafting a strategic HR plan that aligns to the client’s business

• Providing HR policy guidance and interpretation

• Identifying gaps and proactively helping manage risks

• Serving as member of the client HR management team

• Providing comprehensive HR administrative support, which includes pre-employment
  and new hire processing, on-boarding and termination

• Ensuring clients are compliant with employee regulations matters

• Offering counsel on all aspects of HR, including job descriptions, compensation and performance management

• Overseeing employee benefits and payroll as appropriate

• Proactive, enthusiastic, collaborative, thoughtful

• No micromanaging. You run your client book of business

Are you a fit:

• Bachelor's degree and 5+ years related HR experience

• PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification preferred

• PEO experience preferred

• Exceptional ability to develop strong relationships with a multitude of clients

• Exceptional communication and project management skills

• Ability to take initiative and maintain confidentiality

• Strong knowledge of federal and state legislation and legal issues related to HR

• Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
