Department OverviewOur Applied Technology organization puts some of Motorola Solutions' brightest minds on unique, highly challenging projects. Based on decades of experience with our customers, we apply leading-edge technologies to support security and safety throughout the world. We engineer our products from start to finish and manufacture them in-house. Job Description

Ideal candidates for this position are engineering students pursuing a Master's in electrical engineering, with diverse knowledge and a wide variety of interests, especially in antennas and RF/microwave circuit design.

You will be a member of a small (1-6 person) multi-disciplinary team, and will be responsible for antenna and RF circuit design, component selection, schematic entry, integration, and verification. You will be involved in all phases of projects, from requirements analysis and system architecture, through layout, prototype characterization, product bring-up, and deployment.

You must be a flexible, results-oriented problem-solver who requires minimal supervision. Projects can vary greatly from one to the next, so you must thrive on variety and enjoy taking on new challenges.

As you will be working in a small project team and regularly interacting with customers, excellent communications and teamwork skills are essential.

Our products are developed to very high standards of quality and reliability and you will be expected to learn and conform to the department’s hardware development process during all development activities.

Basic Requirements

• Pursuing an MSEE with related course work in RF and antenna engineering, with an excellent GPA.

• Applicant should have experience with antenna simulation software like HFSS or CST, including developing genetic algorithms to optimize antenna performance.

• Applicant should be capable of working in both the simulation level as well as the implementation/verification level - including testing radiated performance of antennas, using test equipment and taking measurements in an anechoic chamber.

• Candidate must be able to design, simulate in tools like ADS, and debug RF hardware circuit

• Schematic capture experience using Cadence Allegro is a plus.

Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contracts. Some contracts may have higher-level clearance requirements.
