The Design & Engineering team at Motorola Solutions is tasked with building the component elements that help product teams across the company implement their vision for the future while bringing to market real-world solutions today. Our portfolio contains a cohesive ecosystem of applications designed to bring mission-critical intelligence from the command center to in-field operations. This includes a suite of communication, collaboration, and workflow apps. We are building some of the most meaningful software today. Real, professional, tools.
The Design & Engineering Team works alongside the UX team, collaborating across the whole breadth of our products with Software Architects, Front and Back End Developers, Interaction Designers, and User Experience & Human Factors Researchers. We enable our design and development partners to ensure the best end-to-end solutions.
Job Description

Software Engineers in the Design & Engineering team at Motorola Solutions will work with UX designers and other engineers in the design, development, integration, and testing of front end components for use by teams across mobile and cloud application software platforms. Projects can include turning elements of applications into reusable components, working with the design team to document and build new modular (reusable) software elements, perfecting our front end look and feel and helping teams across the company implement quality software solutions that reflect our mission critical environment.

ABOUT YOU:

• Student pursuing Bachelors or Master in Computer Science/Software Engineering
• Desired Programming skills: Javascript, HTML, and CSS
• Ability to use browser dev tools to debug website markup and behavior
• Must be comfortable using Git for version control
• Experience using web frameworks, especially Angular (including Typescript and SCSS). React also helpful

Bonus points for knowledge/experience in any of the following areas:

• Javascript testing frameworks, especially Jasmine, Karma, and Jest
• Web accessibility, e.g. screen reader compatibility, keyboard support, and high-contrast display modes
• Mobile responsive web design
• DevOps/cloud computing: AWS, Azure, Docker
• Basic graphics/UI design tools such as Sketch, Illustrator, or Photoshop
• Progressive web apps
