Gemini is a New York trust company that is subject to the capital reserve requirements, cybersecurity requirements, and banking compliance standards set forth by the New York State Department of Financial Services and the New York Banking Law. Gemini was founded in 2014 by twin brothers Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss to empower the individual through crypto.

The Department: Software Engineering

Gemini is regulated and licensed like a bank, but it’s run like a tech startup, and engineering is the core of the company.  There’s a wide range of tough problems to solve at Gemini – from properly securing hundreds of millions of dollars worth of customer funds, to developing innovative new blockchain products, to finding new techniques to combat fraud, to shaving microseconds off our API response times, and everything in between.

All of Gemini’s engineers are able to work across the software platform, not just on their own specialization or subteam. We value a thoughtful, collaborative software development process, coupled with a pragmatic approach to problem solving and delivering software.

The Role: Software Engineer Intern - Summer 2022

Gemini is looking for Summer 2022 Interns to work on high impact engineering projects that help build a fairer future for all. You'll gain real world experience building highly complex, highly trafficked web services. You will be immersed in the latest technologies and development processes in web engineering, mobile engineering, backend development, quality assurance, security engineering, or technical operations. Our goal is to provide a valuable experience that takes you far in your engineering career.

Who You Are:

• You’re passionate about understanding what makes complex technology tick
• You have the ability to actively and effectively communicate with new peers, engineers, mentors, and team leaders
• You can independently bring definition to difficult problems in order to help solve them
• You are a rising junior, senior, postgraduate student, or bootcamp graduate with a strong academic track record 

Qualifications:

• Software engineering proficiency, particularly with respect to best practices and team development of high quality code
• Proficiency in a common programming language
• Excellent problem identification and solving skills with the ability to construct and test clear hypotheses
