Compliance Counsel

We are looking for an experienced compliance generalist to join our quickly expanding global legal department. This is a fantastic opportunity to help create a world class global compliance program from the ground up. Focus of program will be on data, privacy, trade as well as ethics and environment and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish, maintain and drive improvement of compliance and risk management controls and associated programs, processes, policies, and documents primarily related to data, privacy, security, trade compliance, anti-bribery & corruption
• Provide expertise and collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to oversee compliance and risk management program aimed at mitigating risks
• Support internal stakeholders with internal testing and monitoring functions and external assessments examining the sufficiency of compliance program, policies and procedures
• Drive compliance program remedial efforts identified as a result of internal and external program examination
• Position reports directly to General Counsel

Requirements & Preferred Skills

• Experience providing programmatic legal and compliance guidance across a variety of compliance issues and risk areas (e.g., privacy, anti-corruption, ethics, trade) to business stakeholders
• In-house experience strongly preferred
• Experience with third-party risk management programs
• Flexibility, teamwork and people skills essential
• Tech savvy with a pragmatic and can do mindset
• Works well in high performance culture
• Excellent command of written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills applied to legal, business, and operational issues.

Qualifications:

• JD required and membership in one state bar
• Ten or more years experience as a practicing attorney with three or more in a compliance-related consultancy or legal practice
• Prior in-house experience strongly preferred
• Prior start up, privately held and public company experience preferred
