The Role

The Regulatory Compliance Specialist for our Retail team will be responsible for supporting retail operations with compliance of the cannabis regulations in states where Green Thumb operates dispensaries and in expansion markets as the company grows.  This individual will work closely with on-site retail teams to assist with day-to-day regulatory matters and ensure compliance tasks are completed on time.  This position will report to the Retail Regulatory Compliance Manager. Our ideal candidate has 3+ years of relevant experience, is comfortable working with ambiguity and invigorated by the prospect of paving the way in a new industry!

Responsibilities

• Have a working knowledge and understanding of the cannabis rules and regulations for dispensaries
• Under the direction of the Retail Regulatory Compliance Manager, provide regulatory compliance support to retail dispensaries related to reporting, day-to-day operations and procedures, audits and inspections
• Prepare, submit and track approval of variances, modifications, alteration and other requests to the regulatory agencies
• Work with on-site retail team on internal regulatory compliance audits to prepare the facility for regulatory inspection
• Review internal compliance audits/regulatory inspection reports to identify reoccurring compliance issues and follow up on corrective actions and completion to close out compliance matters
• Liaison with on-site retail team on completion of monthly/quarterly/annual regulatory compliance reports and submit reports to the regulatory agencies to ensure each dispensary meets the state’s deadlines on reporting requirements
• Periodically travel to sites for random internal audits to ensure all employees are performing internal inspections accurately and company is in compliance
• Establish and maintain good rapport and communication with inspectors, state police and regulatory agencies
• Assist on-site retail team to ensure quality assurance, safety, security, and sanitation are maintained at each store
• Become a proficient user of the company’s document control system
• Assist with special projects as directed by the Director of Regulatory Compliance and Retail Regulatory Compliance Manager

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Minimum 3+ years retail operations experience with responsibility in compliance required
• Knowledge of compliance in a highly regulated industry such as cannabis, pharmaceuticals, alcohol or tobacco highly preferred
• Proven project management skills tracking and completing long-term or ongoing tasks
• Skilled in communication with employees of all levels, from hourly workers to C suite executives
• Highly motivated, self-directed, innovative and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgement, common sense and resourcefulness
• Adapts and thrives in a demanding, fast-paced environment
• Possesses a high level of critical thinking
• Operates with a high level of professionalism and integrity, including dealing with confidential information
• Must understand and comply with the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of Green Thumb
• Must have a solid understanding of the Cannabis laws, rules and regulations and passion to further their understanding and knowledge of the industry and the laws.

• Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry
• Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
