Job Description:

JOB PURPOSE: Develop and execute Hydraulic Pump/Motors & Cylinder/Rods go-to- market strategy/ value message for Construction Industry products.  To serve as a senior consultant at CISD and subject matter expert in hydraulic Pump, Motors & Cylinders, which is a key component/ enabler for Caterpillar’s Aftermarket parts growth strategy.

Primary Interfaces: Field Teams, Parts Product Groups, Corporate Parts & Service Marketing Groups, Regional Parts & Service Marketing Groups, Regional District Offices, DSD (Distribution Services Division) organization, Industry Groups, Dealers, and some direct customer interface.

JOB DUTIES: As a Senior Parts and Service Marketing Consultant,  you will serve as the expert responsible for the development and execution of WW Pump & Motors/ Cylinders & rod growth Strategy to drive profitable parts revenue and POPS growth targeting multiple Construction Industry customer segments . The role of this assignment is that of an individual contributor who will work very closely with internal partners such as Sales execution team, Distribution Services Division and Hydraulic product groups to develop and execute a comprehensive short/mid/long term growth. Assignments/projects are complex and strategic in nature in hydraulic business and the individual must feel comfortable with the dynamic environment, and have ability to rise above the noise to see bigger pictures to build a strategic & tactical go-to-market framework.

Leadership skills and the ability to sell ideas are key to success in this role. As an individual performer or as the project leader of a generally small group/task force of technical or marketing people, a reputation as an expert begins to develop. Must communicate effectively across product, industry, dealer and/or customer audiences to gain understanding and acceptance of ideas and recommendations. Proven leadership in innovation of new or improved ideas/processes is key to this role, along with the execution to the market.

Work across various functional business units to achieve parts objectives and work with global partners along with districts, dealers and customers to implement parts marketing activities and drive parts growth.

Duties may include:
• Develop Hydraulic solutions following Services NPI discipline

•Mentor team members within broader Parts & Service organization
•Drive POPS growth through development of products and programs
•Delivering new products and programs globally or regionally
•Gathering and providing VOC and VOD to the engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, pricing and logistics teams
•Developing, Coordinating and Presenting Training materials to various audiences, including dealers
•Works along with senior management in planning major programs and objectives for the Division
•Competitive Analysis
•Segmenting, targeting and positioning market opportunities to gain market share
•Managing Parts Variance
•Replicate Pilot solutions globally
•Partner with industry groups to align strategies

Must have ability to work with people from many different backgrounds and cultures, internally and externally, with the appropriate influence and ability to resolve differences. Good human relations skills are required to develop a collaborative, cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside the business unit. Generally, requires extensive travel to understand regional or worldwide business conditions. Incumbent has previous expertise within government agencies, national associations, dealers and/or customer groups.
 

Basic Requirements:
•College or University 4 year degree required

5+ years of marketing/product experience required (Previous Cat Field Assignment experience or Cat Dealer experience would be an asset)

•Proficiency in data analysis, marketing tools and ability to relate to real life problems (Knowledge and experience with marketing tool such as Conjoint analysis, 4P strategy are key, with experience in tools such as Tableau/ Power BI and statistical tool such as Minitab/@RISK would be an added asset)

Proficiency with MS Excel (intermediate to advance level knowledge) and PowerPoint

 

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

•Strong project management skills

•9-12 years of specific industry, product and/or field experience.

•Accomplished in the use of business tools for communicating ideas •Broad business background, specific long-term product or industry knowledge and excellent communication skills.

•Ability to build strong relationships with various stakeholders at all levels
•Previous 6 Sigma Black Belt or project management experience

•Self-starter and team player
•Strong communication, presentation and training skills

•Ability to deal with sensitive issues, mentor and coach, and/or persuade others on new methods of equipment application, new technology and distribution methods.

•Candidate must demonstrate Caterpillar’s values of Integrity, Commitment, Excellence and Teamwork

  • Peoria, IL or Chicago, IL are the locations for this role
  • Relocation assistance is provided for this role
  • Travel can be up to 30-35% for this role (mostly domestic, possible international travel)
