One of the most interesting and strategically important initiatives Home Chef is working on today is our expansion into retail following our deal with Kroger. Our success in retail will be heavily dependent on our ability to predict when, why, and how often customers will be purchasing our product. We are looking for an analytically minded individual to help build from scratch a predictive demand forecasting model and process for our retail business. This encompasses design, tool building, maintenance, and stakeholder communication. These forecasts will inform our entire operations planning as well as determine how much product we want to send to stores.

In addition, this role will have the opportunity to leverage predictive analytics on projects outside of demand forecasting such as those in the customer insights and operational realms. The ideal candidate is not just excited to build but also to work closely with other teams throughout Home Chef.

Predictive analytics

• Apply statistical and predictive methodologies to forecast customer demand of our meals kits in individual retail stores
• Create a process to predict the popularity of brand new meals on our menu every week for the retail consumer
• Overall aim to reduce shrink and overordering to impact the success of our product

Communication and Insight

• Be able to explain reasoning behind predictions to both internal and external stakeholders
• Actively look for opportunities to deliver product and customer insight from our data

Tool Building

• Build out forecasting tools, preferably in Python or R, which applies the predictive analytics above and outputs the relevant predictions to various teams
• Work with our tech and data teams to understand our database and what transformations need to be done to get the necessary data inputs into the tools
• Work with our operations, product, and finance teams to understand forecasting needs and make sure those are met through the tools
• Actively maintain, improve, and automate tools

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in quantitative field
• 1-2 work experience in fast paced data orientated environment preferred
• Understanding of statistical methods and predictive analytics
• Working knowledge of SQL and Python or R
• Attention to detail and highly structured
• Passion for working with data
• High degree of ownership and results driven
