Director, Retail Marketing: RXBAR is one of the fastest growing natural brands in the country, and this explosive growth requires a dynamic leader for our Retail Marketing Team. The Director of Retail Marketing will solidify RX as a category leader. This person will be responsible for leading the Retail Marketing team to bring our brands to life in-store.

The ideal candidate is passionate about shopper marketing and is looking to be part of an exciting, fast-paced, innovative company. This person is a phenomenal people leader and loves collaborating and developing others. He /she is an innate problem solver with a bias for action, has a strategic mind-set, and is able to think creatively and out-of-the-box.

General Functions + Job Responsibilities:

Retail Marketing

  • Define a proactive Retail Marketing function at RXBAR – create team vision and lead the team from an execution-based mindset to a strategic, disruptive approach
  • Lead Retail Marketing Team in developing and executing in-store marketing strategies across Grocery, Mass, Club, Specialty, and Small Format customers
    • Retail marketing initiatives should span the entire shopper journey and drive trial and awareness across product lines
  • Make actionable recommendations on opportunities to expand brand presence in-store
  • Identify opportunities to partner with the Field Marketing team to maximize brand impact and retail activations
  • Manage a sizeable budget, ensuring support is allocated strategically across customers and product lines
  • Attend Sales Meetings, Trade Shows, and other brand events as necessary

Brand Activation

  • Partner with design team to define how our brands show up in retail everyday
  • Work with Sales team to identify key time periods and opportunities to bring the brand to life in-store
  • Partner with Brand, Field, Experiential and Marketing Commercialization Teams to bring engaging and holistic activation to retail
    • Create exciting consumer engagement events during major in-store activations
    • Build comprehensive brand activation plans that support our retail partners

Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the Retail Marketing team
  • Develop and motivate direct reports to improve skills, further career, and deliver company objectives. Coach Retail Marketing Managers to lead
  • Partner closely with Sales, Marketing Commercialization, Field, and Experiential teams applying an empathetic and customer-centric approach
  • Bring thought-leadership organizationally on changing consumer trends and dynamics within retail
  • Advocate for cross functional teams and build empathy within the Retail Marketing team for cross functional partners
  • Understand the RX Leadership principles -- identify areas to lean in and areas to improve
  • Ensure that culture is upheld at all levels throughout of the organization
  • Live and reinforce entrepreneurial spirit – work to maintain the magic
  • Apply design thinking approach to promote creative and efficient problem solving
  • Provide feedback in real time, engaging in difficult conversations
  • Be humble, by embracing failure, learning from other’s examples and showing appreciation for other departments within RX
  • Show courage in challenging the orthodoxy of “typical” food company structure and process

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Positive attitude, energetic, a thirst for knowledge, and an excitement for growing our business
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or marketing; MBA a plus
  • 9-12 years’ post-bachelor’s degree or 5-8 years’ post MBA experience in consumer marketing and sales – does not need to be Food or Beverage experience
  • Experience working in CPG shopper marketing or marketing brands in a retail environment. Partnership with Experiential or Field Marketing teams a plus
  • Experience managing direct reports and leading a team
  • Strong strategic backbone, a bias for action and execution, and ability to prioritize across many projects
  • Genuine interest and passion in marketing, both end-consumer and retailer
  • Ability to work in an ambiguous, fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment, with a proven ability to collaborate and influence in non-traditional organization structures
  • Highly adaptable, flexible, and resourceful
