PechaKucha (http://www.pechakucha.com) is the fastest-growing storytelling platform used by millions of people across the globe. Community Builders, Businesses and Educators use its famed 20-slide x 20-second format to share ideas and connect with others visually, concisely and memorably. Now PechaKucha is redefining authentic human connectivity leveraging its brand, deep social engagement and technology.

At the heart of PechaKucha is a simple presentation format: 20 slides that automatically advance every 20 seconds. Each slide is generally a single picture - something that’s easy to comprehend and not distracting. This format helps long-winded speakers engage audiences with a 6m 40s energetic short story on any topic. The format has spread globally through multi-speaker events called PechaKucha Nights. 

Now in over 1,200 cities worldwide, across more than 140 countries, PechaKucha Nights provide a forum for people to share their creativity. These events are held monthly or quarterly and attract anywhere from 200 to 2,000 people to each event, depending on the city. Since 2003, three million people have attended PechaKucha events. 

We’ve recorded over 40,000 of these presentations and currently share a subset of those on our website and mobile app (iOS only). We’re looking to expand this proven format to reach millions on a new technology platform. This is where you come in!

Our current website, mobile app, and pilot software make it easy to record PechaKucha presentations. It’s a good foundation, but those products are not ready to scale. We’re looking for you to come in, be one of our first hires, and help build-out our vision.

We’re talking some diverse products - user-facing website and mobile apps, SaaS solution for enterprise, and APIs to match. We’re also looking to revolutionize the way people share and experience live events online, blurring the line between the offline and online world. Think live streaming and virtual reality (at some point).

Responsibilities

  • Experience leading strategies and teams in the SaaS/consumer tech space.
  • Ideally, you will be both creative and strategic. We don't want to put our creative ideas to the wrong audiences and platforms, or boring content to the right audiences.
  • Experience growing and managing globally distributed teams.
  • At least 3 years experience in Social / Creative agencies working on tech brands or inhouse in strategic social media positions.
  • A conceptual thinker who has created breakthrough campaigns that evolve the brand to reach its target audiences.
  • Ambitious and autonomous people that want to be a big part of PechaKucha's continued growth and understand the challenges that come with early-stage startups.
  • A team-first attitude, as a growing startup it's important that everyone we bring on believes in doing whatever needs doing, regardless of title or job description.

Qualifications

  • Be an expert in PechaKucha’s products, audience, and community - you’d be the go-to voice on how this translates to all thing social.
  • Understand and contextualize cultural, social, and market trends and audience behavior to inform strategy and creative.
  • Capture and bring to life insights that champion our community, and feed those into the business to inform inspiring and actionable creative briefs and the product direction itself.
  • Establish and evolve the brand strategy and positioning for PechaKucha’s external channels.
  • Deliver inspiring creative briefings by ensuring brand consistency, collaborating with and supporting creative teams throughout the process.
  • Apply focused strategy across diverse, concurrent campaigns and partnerships.
