Senior Manager, Executive Communications

The Role:
We’re looking for a Senior Manager of Executive Communications to build and lead the implementation of an executive communications strategy focused on our employees. In this role, you’ll sit within our Corporate Communications team, which is comprised of Employee Communications (internal) and Media Relations (external) professionals. You’ll work closely with the Executive Leadership team to create transparency around key initiatives, business updates/changes, and crises through email communications, intranet posts, events, and more. Working closely with Legal and Talent & Culture to vet content, you’ll build and lead the implementation of an executive communications strategy.
Some of the areas you’ll lead:
• Executive Communications strategy—Develop a comprehensive strategy for sharing executive communications with employees; work with the other members of Corporate Communications to identify opportunities/challenges and synchronize with other internal campaigns
• Leadership & change management communication—Work with appropriate Executive Leadership, Talent & Culture, and Legal to develop communications and campaigns for crucial news and changes within the business
• Internal event strategy—Work with Executive Leadership to determine the agenda, themes, speakers, and goals for each internal event, including our annual Company Meeting; project manage the planning and execution of internal events; assist with day-of execution of all internal events
• Executive speaking opportunity strategy—Work with Executive Leadership and Media Relations to create a strategy around vetting external event opportunities and work with executives to develop presentation content and craft talking points
• CEO Quarterly Update—Work directly with the CEO and all Executive Leaders to craft a comprehensive overview of each quarter that resonates with global employees at every level
• Monthly Leadership Team Meeting—Propose an agenda to the CEO and work with Executive Leaders to gather content and create presentations; attend the meeting to gather knowledge about key initiatives
• Acquisitions/Integration Communications—Work with Executive Leaders, Talent & Culture, Legal, etc. to craft acquisition/transition communications (as needed); actively work to integrate acquired employees into the Morningstar communications experience (continuous)
• Crisis Communications—Work with the Media Relations team to manage crises and mitigate internal backlash (as needed); build upon the crisis communications strategy and recommend improvements (continuous)
• Employer Awards Strategy—Work with Talent & Culture to develop a strategy for vetting employer award opportunities
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree required (Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or English is preferred)
• 7-10 years of relevant experience in corporate communications required
• Experience working with executive-level leadership
• Experience managing acquisition/integration communications and crisis communications
• Demonstrated ability to lead sensitive, urgent communication projects from start to finish
• Proven ability to work quickly and decisively to meet deadlines, troubleshoot, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; the ability to present and communicate ideas clearly to resonate with colleagues at all levels
