SUMMARY:

The SEO Director must be a dedicated search evangelist who is eager to get their hands dirty, continue learning, growing and teaching others of the passion for search marketing. They will be responsible for developing and successfully executing program-specific action plans to generate strong positioning and rankings that drive quality traffic for non-profit university partner websites as well as All Campus corporate sites. 

This individual will possess deep expertise in SEO best practices and methodologies and the knowledge of analytics and tools necessary to report on the progress of the channel and effectiveness of the deployed tactics. Candidates must be resourceful, collaborative and exhibit strong problem-solving skills ensuring that core deliverables are always of the highest quality and working closely with various teams to produce results that meet or exceed the expectations of our partners.

Candidates should have an established record of strong feedback from clients, peers, and direct reports and have passion for managing and nurturing a team of SEO subject matter experts. They must have extensive knowledge and experience using SEO for lead generation, and proven experience owning and delivering on measurable individual, channel and organizational goals.

 

This position will report to the Associate Vice President of Digital Marketing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position supervises multiple levels of SEO specialists and is responsible for the coaching and mentoring of direct reports. Experience with goal setting, performance reviews, and departmental workload management are essential.
  • Refine existing and develop new team processes to encourage proactive identification of key strategic and technical optimization opportunities including site speed, keyword rank, algorithmic changes, keyword expansion, content gaps, competitive analyses, etc.
  • Plan, execute, evaluate, and optimize ongoing SEO strategic initiatives on behalf of All Campus corporate and its university partner clients, including target keyword identification, link building, and content topic creation.
  • Ensure that All Campus and university partner websites are developed utilizing proven methodologies and current best practices.
  • Remain up-to-date on all SEO best-practices, strategies and reported changes within search engine algorithms; communicate any developments within the Marketing team.
  • Work with the Content team to manage the creation and execution of optimized and high quality content that best represents the applicable brand in support of the overall SEO strategy.
  • Conduct technical site audits and present findings within All Campus as well as to university partners.
  • Support sales efforts and contractual development for new and existing partnerships.
  • Report on the effectiveness of the SEO channel using web analytics and data supplied by SEO platforms to key stakeholders.
  • Manage editorial and content marketing calendar for SEO initiatives. Work with content writers to produce SEO-optimized copy. Should also be able to compose and edit content independently.


EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE an equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

  • Must have a minimum of 6-8 years of SEO-focused experience with at least 2 years in a related  managerial role with a focus on hiring, training, nurturing, and supporting all levels of a team.
  • Must have, at minimum, a 4-year degree from an accredited institution. A focus in IT, design, marketing, statistics, or math is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience managing team P&Ls, financial planning, staffing/hiring plans, and resource mapping are ideal, but not required.
  • Ability to develop and present a persuasive argument for foundational and advanced SEO services.
  • Expert-level understanding of search engine functionality, best practice SEO strategy and methodology, and a nuanced understanding of recent and historical changes in the industry.
  • Proficiency with relevant tools or analytics applications (e.g. Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Moz, AHREFS, SEM Rush, etc.).
  • Google Analytics certification(s) preferred, but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of multiple content management systems, website architecture and experience with HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript, and schema markup.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience developing novel reporting, managing and processing large datasets for insights, and forecasting KPI-level performance.
  • Extraordinary attention to detail with experience using project management software (e.g. Trello, Asana, etc.) in your everyday work.
  • Exceptional written, verbal communication skills with the ability to write concise, reasoned, and inspired content designed to improve organic search performance.
  • Experience implementing successful technical and content-focused SEO strategies for lead generation.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, Powerpoint and Word or Google Suite equivalent.
