About the Role

As the Clubhouse Merchandising Manager, you ensure we have the right inventory strategy to serve customers in our Trunk Club clubhouses.

You partner with our Seattle merchandisers to create clear visibility into our inventory demand, gaps in our assortment, and the performance of vendors and categories. You are the expert in our clubhouse shopping experience and strive to optimize it by collaborating with our product training team, consumer insights team, and sales teams to accomplish this goal.

To succeed in this role, you must understand classic merchandising processes and terminology while thinking differently about how to approach merchandising and clubhouse shopping challenges, challenging the status quo and driving innovation through technology, process, and analysis. You will succeed by ensuring our in-person shopping experiences are consistently supported by the right inventory for every customer need.

You are exceptionally analytical and understand how to use data to drive change. You love generating, prioritizing, testing, and analyzing hypotheses to improve our business. At the same time, you are highly empathetic to the needs of our merchants and sales team and support them with clear and consistent data to support their decision-making processes.

A Day in the Life

  • Be the primary merchandising point person for heads of office, clubhouse sales teams, and sales support.
  • Be the primary point of contact for Seattle merchants in terms of clubhouse inventory assortment and strategy; advocate for improvements with qualitative and quantitative feedback.
  • Provide in season analysis and insights ensuring the highest priorities are executed against to drive the Clubhouse business
  • Complete seasonal recap for divisional buying teams to inform future product assortment needs.
  • Develop seasonal merchandise strategy and planning guidance and partner with buyers and buy planners on buy on and implementation.
  • Partner with Seattle merchants to improve the depth and precision of location-level inventory content.
  • Help build and improve relationships with local Nordstrom stores.
  • Create clear visibility into clubhouse inventory demand, gaps in assortment, and performance of vendors and products when offered to different customer types.
  • Guide clubhouse sales teams on inventory strategy, assortment, and selling strategies; partner with our sales training team to highlight product training opportunities.
  • Collaborate with our product training team to ensure our clubhouse stylists understand our merchandise strategy and have the requisite product knowledge to do their jobs effectively.
  • Travel to clubhouses on a regular basis to listen to feedback regarding inventory assortment, visit local Nordstrom partners, and provide merchandising strategy updates to the sales teams.
  • Partner with the Trunk Club marketing team on clubhouse marketing and initiatives, including content marketing and event support.
  • Develop insight regarding competitors’ offering and merchandise presentation.

Who you are

  • You successfully influence an improved inventory assortment for our clubhouse customers, as measured by inventory sell-through, stylist inventory ratings, and customer feedback.
  • Use all available data to highlight missed demand or product performance opportunities and effectively advocate for the merchandise to support them.
  • Become a trusted partner to our merchants, collaborating to support in-person experiences with the right inventory.
  • Become a trusted partner to our sales teams, helping craft actionable merchandising plans to respond to their feedback in an efficient way.
  • Help improve the effectiveness and execution of clubhouse marketing initiatives, from content marketing to clubhouse events.
  • Effectively measure and communicate the results of your efforts.

What your Background may look Like

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years’ experience a merchandising role, preferably focused on merchandising assortment strategy.
  • Extremely strong communication and project management skills; comfort speaking in front of a large group.
  • Experience in retail merchandising, planning or analysis.
  • Familiarity with classical merchandising processes and strategies.
  • Familiarity with traditional brick-and-mortar retail and associated merchandising strategies.
  • Proven track record of success evolving an assortment to meet customer needs.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Travel needed: Approximately 20%
