Optiver is looking for a Head of Risk to lead and oversee our Chicago Risk group. The Head of Risk will play an integral role to the success of Optiver by continually developing our risk systems, methodologies and limits, ensuring a high level of protection against loss.
The ideal candidate will bring a clear, long-term vision to how we can continuously enhance and develop our risk strategies and will apply strong leadership capabilities to oversee & develop our risk team.
What you’ll do:
- Set local standards for risk limits and develop risk frameworks
- Independently advise on appropriate risk measurement methodologies and effectively convey risk to key stakeholders within the organization
- Create, maintain, and enhance risk monitoring systems
- Partner with the Technology Team to continuously improve visualization tools for risk monitoring
- Work closely with the Trading Team to identify key risk metrics
- Stay current on market developments and relevant news; perform impact assessments for Optiver’s trading positions
- Develop and manage credit risk framework and monitoring solutions
- Assist in maintaining automated risk control framework for algorithmic trading strategies
- Identify and assess risks in upcoming business initiatives
- Assess regulatory changes and their impact on risk limits and required capitalization
- Collaborate and liaise with other risk leaders in the organization
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- 8-10 years’ trading industry experience
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Strong understanding of options pricing theory and trading strategies
- Experience with Single Stock Options is a plus
- Solid quantitative/technical background and excellent numerical skills
- Experience leading a team; able to provide risk team with guidance and support towards the progress of their goals
- Strong communication, time management, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to make informed, analytical decisions in a fast-paced trading environment
