The Business Operations team is a shared resource that supports all functions within IT. This role is within the the sub-team of Technology Business Management team (TBM) whose specific objectives are as follows:
Drive accountability to financial commitments by providing the right information to enable decision making and visibility to results
Implement and maintain a financial structure that enables ownership of budget for IT leaders
Simplify financial processes and tools to reduce effort and enable faster execution of external spend
Produce & maintain a financial showback model that provides transparency for business partners to the financial effect of IT decisions.
Maintain a portfolio financial management framework that enables re-prioritization and the most effective utilization of IT investment dollars.
Job Description
The primary purpose of this role is to enable decision making related to the IT Investment Portfolio (project work) by driving business case development, providing timely and accurate information related to planned, forecasted, and actual spend by project and measuring business value realization. It requires close coordination with project leads/managers.
Primary responsibilities include:
Drive sound business case development by working closely with program lead to ensure business benefits are clearly and accurately articulated. Ensure that financial and resource requirements are appropriately captured in the business case.
Maintain a portfolio (inventory) of all projects with status and provide tracking and version control of all business case documents.
Maintain a Portfolio financial management framework for all IT Investment spend (to ensure costs are reported accurately and to drive project team accountability to budget)
Perform financial approval for all project related external spend.
Provide reporting of project budget, forecast (demand), commitments (expenditures), and actuals by project/program, and by fiscal quarter/ year (3 year view).
Coordinate approval of changes in project budget.
Provide all necessary financial information to enable IT leadership decision making related to Investment projects.
Build the IT Investment budget in support of the annual financial planning process.
Simplify financial processes and tools to reduce effort and enable faster execution of external investment spend
Support and understand the showback model that provides transparency for business partners to the financial effect of IT investment decisions.
Measure and report the value that is realized from each project in close coordination with the project owner/sponsor.
Desired Skills/Experience:
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets (Google Sheets preferred)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Superior financial reporting communication skills
Experience with Oracle financial systems preferred
Experience with business case development and measuring value preferred
Basic Requirements
Bachelor’s degree
3 - 5 years Financial Management experience
