Responsibilities

The IT PM Competency Manager will report directly to the Director of IT Global Governance and has accountability for building a framework to assess strategic programs and projects to ensure their delivery approach maximizes the likelihood of success in partnership with the IT Delivery Transformation Manager (also in Global Governance team). The IT PM Competency Manager will also be responsible for assessing the current collective strengths and weaknesses of the Program/Project Management skillset in the Global IT organization and will build a Global Community of Practice for Program and Project Managers to improve the collective PM processes by sharing and building best practices. 

  • Provide thought leadership for technology project and program management based on industry developments and best practice to ensure a discipline of continuous improvement
  • Assist HAVI IT in proactively reducing waste and improving value within our processes and tools, via ongoing tangible process improvements
  • Define, publish and ensure use of “best ways to work” for PM methodologies, processes, PPM tools and reporting metrics (KPIs) in partnership with Service Line PMOs and IT Leadership
  • Ensure that training curriculums support the PMO/Global Governance strategy.
  • Build a community of practice for the Program/Project Management function across the HAVI organization
  • Perform or oversee reviews of Programs and Projects to ensure “best ways of working” practices are being utilized and provide recommendations and/or coaching as necessary based upon review results
  • Occasional travel may be required (<15%)

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in MIS, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Extensive experience in program, project, and portfolio management. In addition to traditional waterfall knowledge, looking for knowledge and experience in various Agile methods and practices (Scrum, Lean, XP, RAD etc.)
  • Program manager experience or people manager experience (with direct reports)   
  • Experience driving change management initiatives across an organization  
  • Strong influence management skills; ability to work cooperatively at all levels in a matrix environment to build and maintain the positive relationships required to accomplish organizational goals   
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal/team effectiveness
  • Exceptional analytical, strategic, planning, organization, and time management skills to effectively execute project plans and budgets   
  • Clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities of cross- functional project teams and functional management
  • Business acumen; ability to think from an overall “best for the business” perspective   
  • Demonstrates initiative; results oriented   
  • Excellent decision making skills – ability to negotiate and balance decisions and manage competing priorities across multiple areas

Additional Preferred Experience

  • Professional Certifications (PMI, ITIL, Lean Six Sigma, Prince2, Certified Scrum Master)
  • Excellent facilitation and issue resolution skills   
  • Experience managing global initiatives
  • Experience with PPM Tools, MS Project, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Word
