Responsibilities

The IT Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining components of the technology architecture. By combining deep technical expertise and exceptional design and implementation skills, the Senior Engineer leads the delivery of technology projects and participates in defining the strategic technology direction.  The person in this role works with business management and IT staff, identifies technology alternatives and specifies solutions that will meet business needs.  This individual will provide technical leadership on projects and will understand technical issues, develop recommendations, and gain competency with IT processes. Additional responsibilities:

  •  Hybrid compute environment (Azure, AWS, On Premise)
  • Cloud workload migration, migrate from on premise to Azure
  • Orchestration and automation
  • Storage platforms (Tintri, StorSimple, Hitachi, NetApp, EMC)
  • Server Operating Systems (Windows, Linux, UNIX)
  • Scripting and programming experience (PowerShell, Python, Perl, .NET…)
  • Document solutions, systems and procedures
  • Consistently share solutions with peers
  • Identify and suggest process and/or procedure improvements
  • Deliver personal, customer focused and professional service
  • Define new processes and procedures
  • Work effectively as an individual and as part of a team
  • Demonstrate sound written, oral and organizational skills
  • Deliver personal, customer focused and professional service
  • Facilitate meetings to discuss problems/solutions with stakeholders and peers
  • Provide status and issue updates to senior management and peers as required
  • Use external information to research and resolve issues when needed
  • Work with external hardware and software vendors to resolve issues as needed
  • Assist other technical teams as needed
  • Perform routine system maintenance
  • Tracking of assets
  • Perform backups and restores
  • Design, build and configuration of new hardware/software
  • Document and maintain environment standards.
  • Perform installation and configuration of software including operating system, patches, and 3rd party products.
  • Drive completion of quality project deliverables, within time and budget
  • Deliver projects for both IT and directly for the business
  • Ensure quality control on all projects within area of responsibility

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems (or equivalent experience)
  • 7+ years’ related IT experience
  • Experience as technical lead in field of expertise
  • Experience implementing best-practice processes and procedures including ITIL
  • Experience leading small & large projects that require interaction with the business
  • Experience in environments with formal project management methodologies and practices
  • Troubleshoot complex system, application and hardware issues
  • Strong knowledge of local policies, rights, and standards and a solid grasp on how they come into play in the environment
  • Ability to manage multiple issues, priorities and goals
  • Ability to follow documented commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures
  •  IT Industry Certifications are a plus (MCSE, VCP, CCNA, etc.)
