Primary Responsibilities

The Logistics Manager is responsible for the management of inbound transportation team which manages inbound purchase orders across a regional geographical area. The Logistics Manager is accountable for the Inbound purchase orders on time performance, while ensuring both cost effective transportation service and customer/vendor satisfaction.

Essential Functions

  • Manage inbound load planning activities through consolidation of purchase orders, routing and selecting carriers to meet service and freight income expectations by utilizing the Transportation Management System (TMS).
  • Identify optimal freight solutions and select best mode of transportation to reduce cost position, while focusing on truck utilization and service.
  • Ensure effective and cost efficient on time performance for critical vendor inbound purchase orders that directly correlate with customer’s case fill rates.
  • Communicate daily with Buyers, Carriers, Vendors, KeHE consolidation centers and KeHE distribution centers concerning shipping activities and improved opportunities.
  • Utilize reports as required from the TMS to facilitate continuous improvement efforts.
  • Analyze cost efficiency of existing load configurations on an ongoing basis, implementing efficiencies where appropriate.
  • Work with major vendors to ensure smooth consistent supply chain execution.
  • Assure that established KeHE policies and procedures are followed in carrying out accountabilities.

Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude

  • Associates Degree required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Strong MS Excel skills required
  • A minimum of 2 years previous transportation/logistics experience
  • Up to 25% travel required.

Qualifications / Additional Skills / Aptitude:

  • Previous experience optimizing freight movements utilizing optimization software preferred.
  • Must have a fundamental knowledge of transportation and load planning.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, Customer focused
  • Must be analytical, results-oriented, self-directed, and have excellent time management skills.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to identify and resolve conflicts as well as improve processes.
  • Excellent problem solving and Root Cause Analysis skills required.
