Manager, Threat and Protective Intelligence
About the Role
Chime onboards thousands of accounts and processes hundreds of millions of dollars in transactions every week including debit card purchases, transfers between banks, P2P payments, direct deposits, and more. As the leader of our fast-growing Threat and Protective Intelligence Team (TPI), you will play a key role in the Risk Organization by leading the team responsible for collecting intelligence across covert communication channels, the deep + dark web (DDW), and social media platforms. Â
Your team will use an array of tools and resources to gather threat intelligence to ensure Chime stays ahead of ever-changing risks including fraud and money laundering schemes, impersonation and scam social media accounts, and identity theft. You will coordinate with key cross-functional teams including Engineering, Product, Security, and Data Analytics to implement program enhancements while keeping in mind an exceptional member experience. Together, you’ll work with a diverse team of risk-minded professionals to help us ensure our members get the safest and best experience Chime can provide!Â
For Colorado based roles: In accordance with applicable law, this role has an annual starting salary of $149,000 plus bonus, a competitive equity package, and benefits (see below). The actual pay may be higher depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.Â
In this role, you can expect to
- Manage and supervise the day-to-day operations of the team responsible for gathering, analyzing, and disseminating threat intelligence.
- Formulate policies and workflows for deciphering threat intelligence to maximize impact in identifying risky accounts and new attack vectors impacting Chime’s products.
- Understand the potential threat vectors and risks to Chime and its members, and formulate comprehensive strategies to reduce these vulnerabilities.
- Oversee and drive the development of automated investigations tools, tracking mechanisms, processes, and protocols that will be used by Chime to gather threat intelligence across a broad landscape including DDW, covert communication channels and social media platforms.
- Partner with cross-functional teams across Risk, Compliance, Security, Product, and Engineering to disseminate/action intelligence, respond to rapidly evolving threats and analyze complex sets of data generated from curated alerting.Â
- Craft and implement scalable strategies to identify threat actors and mitigate their attacks, and develop templates for tailored intelligence products and deliverables.Â
- Create and implement unit objectives and policies to meet organizational goals.
To thrive in this role, you have
- 8+ years of experience in threat intelligence collection and analysis, and building dissemination workflows preferably with a financial services or technology company.
- 3+ years of people management and leadership experience.
- A deep understanding of threat vectors and fraud schemes discussed and advertised on DDW and covert communication channels, specifically as they relate to the financial and technology sectors, including knowledge of illicit marketplaces and forums.
- Experience operationalizing intelligence, and iterating on alerting from threat intelligence vendors and platforms.
- A proven track record of forging cross-functional relationships to share and disseminate actionable intelligence to relevant stakeholders.
- A strong background in onboarding and managing vendors in the intelligence collection space, with expertise in API integration.
- The ability to produce reporting and metrics as it relates to threat intelligence trends and alerting volumes.
- Proficiency with SQL and Looker (preferred).
- A Bachelors degree (preferred).
