Job Purpose:
This Network LAN/WLAN Manager is a leader for a diverse team of approximately twenty individuals comprised of Caterpillar full-time, agency and managed service partners delivering the following services:
• Network administration and support for LAN and WLAN (Access to Distribution to Core)
• Network Access Control (NAC) management and administration using Cisco ISE
• Network tool application support (Cisco Prime, DNA, ISE)
• Network design and implementation in support of facility initiatives
• Enterprise network architecture for LAN, WLAN, and NAC technologies
• Procurement of network components, software, global maintenance agreements, and statement of work contracts
• Asset management of LAN, WLAN, and NAC assets
• Vulnerability management of LAN, WLAN, and NAC components
Description:
This Information Technology Manager role ensures prompt network support (LAN/WLAN/NAC) is provided in the America's region (US, Canada, Mexico, South America). Additionally, this role is indirectly accountable for providing support via IT partners, for the following regions and/or business units:

  • Asia Pacific region
  • EAME region
  • PSLD
  • BCP
  • Cat Financial
  • Solar


Primary duties include:

  • Provide leadership and career development support for the Network Services LAN/WLAN/NAC team
  • Provide network support for diverse enterprise systems, applications, and initiatives
  • Monitor and drive improvement to LAN/WLAN/NAC network services
  • Manage an IT expense budget of $16M+ USD / year
  • Manage the Offer-to-Sell process for LAN/WLAN/NAC services
  • Manage relationships with internal and external suppliers
  • Manage procurement of network components, software, global maintenance agreements, and statement of work contracts
  • Manage strategic IT projects including the continuous refresh of enterprise network infrastructure
  • Manage the development of strategic IT roadmaps for LAN/WLAN/NAC services
  • Manage risk vulnerabilities for LAN/WLAN/NAC components
  • Serve as escalation point for Priority 1 and 2 service tickets as defined by ITSM processes


This role contributes to improvements in cost efficiency and quality and works closely with management, business managers, and internal customers. The role also works closely with network and security architects to explore alternatives and generate appropriate strategic, multi-year, service IT roadmaps and drive appropriate standardization across infrastructure landscapes. This individual participates in all objective setting and business planning processes. This role ensures standard work is defined, monitored, and supported to ensure the scope of network services achieve and maintain compliance to internal policies and procedures, including those relating to Cybersecurity and IT General Controls.
Basic Requirements:

  • Requires a relevant degree and/or 10-15 years of progressively complex experiences.
  • Requires previous technical or leadership experience in related infrastructure with a broad background in systems hardware, system software, support, and development methodologies.
  • Previous business planning, project management, and customer needs management.
  • A broad knowledge of one or more applications or infrastructure components.


Top Candidate Will Also Have:

  • Previous network and/or datacenter experience is desired.
  • Good interpersonal, teaming, leadership, and communications skills
