Role Description

The Operations Director, Specialty Center is a unique and important leadership role at Oak Street Health. The Operations Director will be responsible for the operational rigor and oversight of our Specialty Center Program, centered around standing up our first multi-specialty clinic here at Oak Street. The Operations Director will work closely with the Medical Director for the Specialty Center as well as regional leaders such as the Regional Vice President to translate the overall "vision" of the project into reality, by creating clinic workflows and leading the execution of operational initiatives to enable a successful pilot launch. After the launch of the pilot center, the Operations Director will continue to oversee the operational aspects of the pilot program, and work closely with leadership to collect and translate learnings from the program into our referral and specialty care strategy at a national level.

Responsibilities

Drive planning, launch and execution of the Specialty Center Program:

  • Project manage the operational support of the Specialty Center opening to ensure it is aligned with operational excellence from day one
  • Collaborate closely with the Center Medical Director and Regional Vice President to ensure operational initiatives aligned with overall vision & strategy for the center
  • Direct the work of an expansion team to offer on-the-ground support throughout the opening process, and ensure center is opened with ability to sustain success over time
  • Foster partnerships with regional clinic leaders, learning and development, and central teams to ensure key structures and training are in place for opening
  • Beyond the physical center, partner with central and field leadership to build out and operationalize a telemedicine program to extend services offered in the center

Drive operational excellence at Specialty Center at opening and ongoing:

  • Contribute to our operations playbook to promote consistency in training and operations across the Specialty Center and our primary care clinics
  • Support the consistent execution of our safety program, clinic workflows, and care model best practices via training, walkthroughs, and auditing
  • Drive Care Model best practices and support the implementation and reinforcement of new initiatives
  • Lead a team based in different geographic markets who offer on-the-ground support to patient centers

Develop and Manage Center Operations Leaders

  • Onboard, train and coach a new Practice Manager, with responsibility for outcomes
  • Support the Specialty Center Practice Manager in team development and build a culture for service and clinical team members consistent with Oak Street Health primary care centers
  • Instill collaborative culture between Specialty Center and other operational leaders in the region
  • Conduct independent operational reviews on performance, quality, and other metrics
  • Lead efforts in partnership with other regional leaders to support overall employee engagement scores
  • Personify and cultivate Oak Street Health's mission to rebuild healthcare as it should be within the Region

Support strategic and operational efforts around Specialty Care at the national level

  • Collect learnings from Specialty Center Program and work with central leadership to help establish a national approach to Specialty Centers
  • Provide strategic thought partnership & operational support around building out a national telemedicine program for specialty care
  • Contribute to other strategic & operational initiatives related to specialty care as necessary, as program develops and scales
  • Other duties, as assigned

This role reports to the Clinical Services team and has high growth potential.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory role within a clinical setting
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred
  • Experience with new program development and implementation
  • Excellent project management skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Comfort with ambiguity in a first-of-its kind, pilot program setting
  • Ability to pivot in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to collaborate with leaders across the organization, including comfort engaging with senior leadership
