HAVI is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to architect, design, implement, enhance and maintain highly scalable, available, secure and elastic cloud ready data solutions based on industry best practices by using cutting-edge technologies for our Analytics Team. We are looking for a passionate technologist, go-getter -- someone who never stops seeking ways to improve existing technology. In this role, you will become an expert in our data domains, act as a trusted advisor to architects and engineers, and become a crucial part of the deployment and operations of our systems. Additional responsibilities: 

  • Serve as a member of a data and analytics team who solves complex challenges and constructs and implements domain-specific data stores and data marts
  • Perform technology and product research and work collaboratively with data scientist, DBAs, data architects, business stakeholders to understand their requirements, resolve important issues, and improve overall capabilities of the data platform
  • Work with high volumes of data of different velocities and varieties to process and expose for analysis through domain-specific data stores and data marts 
  • Design, build, and manage scalable data systems to serve analytics teams using Azure, Oracle SQL, T-SQL, PostgreSQL
  • Implement self-service tools that enable SQL / Python users to query the data
  • Collaborate with the team to develop database structures that fit into the overall architecture of the systems under development
  • Provide recommendations, analysis, and evaluation of systems improvements, optimization, development, and maintenance efforts
  • Implement security and recovery tools and techniques as required.
  • Create and maintain a domain area’s data catalog and data flow documentation 

 

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, other technical discipline (or equivalent work experience)
  • 5+ years of data engineering, data science experience or software engineering
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, interpersonal communication skills
  • Collaborative, Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in handling large data volumes, deep understanding of data marts, data warehouse architecture, multidimensional databases, data lakes, and data migration
  • Significant knowledge of data modeling and understanding of different data structures and their benefits and limitations under various use cases
  • Deployment experience in both cloud/on-prem/container environment
  • Some experience in one or more of the following: SQL, Python, Panda, Spark or Pyspark, SparkSQL, HDFS
  • Hands-on experience with cloud vendors (Azure experience preferred, will also consider AWS or Google Cloud)
  • Experience working with APIs, microservice architecture, event-based data processing (Spark, Kafka)
  • Linux command line

  • Oracle, Postgres
  • Scala
  • Azure tools: Batch, Data Factory, Data Lake, U-SQL, DataBricks, HD-Insight
  • Large-Scale Machine Learning Deployment
  • Experience with in-memory, NoSQL database
  • MS toolset: Teams, Excel, One-drive, Visio
  • Docker, Kubernetes
  • RedHat, Ubuntu, Alpine Linux
  • Experience with agile methodologies, and tooling
