Summary:

Install, configure and maintain Intel-based server farm consisting of approximately 350 Windows, and VMware servers.  This support includes hardware, operating systems and patch levels, as well as third party and OCC developed software. 

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily support for Windows and VMware Production, Test and Development environments
  • Support of a highly virtualized MS Windows 2003/2008 server farm consisting of approximately 275 Windows servers, which includes operating systems support, patching (vendor provided updates) and third party software maintenance
  • Troubleshooting hardware and software complex problems and taking appropriate corrective action and/or interacting with IT staff or vendors in performing dynamic testing, support and troubleshooting functions with very little to no supervision.
  • Performing complex computing environment build-outs, user training, installation, maintenance and support with emphasis on documentation of operating procedures and processes
  • Provide support the application infrastructure that runs on the Windows servers
  • Provide support for Active Directory
  • Provide daily server support for the email and instant messaging environment
  • Provide 3rd level support for client-side issues
  • Support, follow and demonstrate compliance with OCC’s policies and procedures
  • Provide on-call support and weekend maintenance duties as required
  • Complete projects in a timely manner and produce documentation as required
  • Maintain (unsure CPU/ Memory / Disk are within all capacity limits and functioning), monitor, make changes to fix, patch (vendor provided updates) in the VMware ESX server environment
  • Maintain Cisco UCS infrastructure
  • Monitor server performance and capacity, forecast system demands and recommend upgrades, expansions and reconfigurations
  • Act as a liaison for customer relations
  • Provide daily support for Microsoft Exchange 2010 environment
  • Support SharePoint 2010 environment – upgrading to SharePoint 2013
  • Support and enhance mobile messaging environment
  • Support Microsoft OCS/Lync instant messaging environment
  • Provide 3rd level support for client-side issues
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work on call schedules from 5 PM to 7 AM for 2 months per year
  • Accustomed to working weekends

 

Technical Skills:

  • Experience with and strong understanding of MS Windows Server platforms as well as related technologies such as Active Directory and IIS
  • Experience with and solid understanding of VMware ESXi
  • Experience with Microsoft Exchange administration
  • Experience with VMware View/Horizon

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, Bachelors degree in a related field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience supporting  Microsoft Windows and VMware ESX environments.

 

Certificates or Licenses:

Relevant certifications desirable
