Department OverviewWe operate the award-winning School of Cybersecurity and the Cyber Certified Experts (CCE) program. We pride ourselves that our education and certification programs are supported by full-time professionals defending organizations and systems in the field. Job Description

Looking for a part-time SOC Analyst to work Fridays and Saturdays, 11PM-7AM – with the option for additional shifts as needed.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist and recognize successful intrusions and compromises through review and analysis of relevant event detail information. 
  • Launch and track investigations to resolution.
  • Recognizes attacks based on their signatures. 
  • Differentiate false positives from true intrusion attempts. 
  • Alert clients of intrusions and potential intrusions and compromises to their network infrastructure. 
  • Monitor and manage client network security devices. 
  • Actively investigate the latest in security vulnerabilities, advisories, incidents, and penetration techniques and notifies clients when appropriate. 
  • Performs tasks as identified in a daily task list. 
  • Conduct periodic Vulnerability Assessment and Reporting. 
  • Configuration Review of security devices. 
  • Publish daily/weekly reports to applicable teams. 
  • Generate regular reports on SOC activity.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Three (3) – five (5) years of experience in Network Security Monitoring/SOC Operations/System Analysis.
  • Experience with incident response.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
  • Strong MS Office and Adobe products skills.
  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Government security clearance.
  • Self-motivated and able to work in an independent manner or as part of a team.
  • Observe, investigate, and report on security related events.
  • Analyze IANA assigned ports (well known, registered, dynamic and private ports).
  • Understand the concept of the OSI model and the TCP/IP Model.
  • Common attack vectors such as port scans, man-in-the-middle, DoS, DDoS, Trojans, viruses, and web application attacks.
  • Recognize network attack patterns.

Desired

  • Understanding and experience using various security related exploits and tools.
  • Experience using System Security/Vulnerability Scanners/Sniffers.
  • Experience with security software, firewalls, and any IDS/IPS systems.
  • Familiarity with NIST/FISMA/FIPS.
  • Familiarity with penetration testing tools.
  • Ability to analyze vulnerability scan results.
  • Troubleshoot common network devices.
  • Summarize security events and communicate effectively with MS Office products.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or related field.

 Certifications:

  • The following certifications (one or more is preferred): Lunarline, Inc. School of Cybersecurity “Certified Expert” certifications, Security+, Network+, CAP, or equivalent.
