Department OverviewThe FSO (Field Service Organization) is responsible for supporting the implementation and maintenance of highly technical communications systems at customer locations throughout the State of IN. Job tasks include but are not limited to: deployment, optimization, and repair of infrastructure, public safety loggers, subscribers, microwave, computers, servers and network equipment. Our department works closely with customers, our system manager, engineers, our sales team, project managers, system technologists and service partners to accomplish the assigned tasks. Department is on call 24/7/365 to support mission critical systems for our public safety customers throughout the State of IN.
Job Description
As you provide onsite and remote technical support of specialized communications systems and product applications, your public safety customers in Northeast IN will look to you as a trusted technical adviser. Maintenance, optimization, testing and documentation of the complex communications systems throughout the territory will be your responsibility. You will also have the opportunity to use cutting edge and creative solutions to solve your customers communications issues.
This position is a dedicated field service position that covers Northeast IN. It allows self motivated employees manage their own schedule and respond to customer issues without direct supervision. It will require strong people skills to work closely with Motorola’s customers and subcontractor (MSS) community, as well as Motorola sales, engineering, project management, customer service teams, and other 3rd party vendors.
Duties will also include:
Perform preventative maintenance routines to ensure proper system operation with focus on trend analysis and documentation of results
Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered as part of system maintenance, upgrades or support issues
Identify and solve customer problems quickly during stressful situations
Stay familiar with the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques
Team with engineering, project management and sales personnel to develop creative solutions to exceed customer expectations

The ideal candidate will have at least one network certification:

CCNA
NRS1
Related certification
The ideal candidate will demonstrate high level systems expertise and have a minimum of 6 years of related experience with the following equipment:
Motorola Base Stations (GTR series, Quantar, etc.)
Motorola Consoles (MCC7500, MCC7100)
Various network backhaul technologies (T1, PTP, VPN, MPLS, MW, etc)
Computer IP Networks and Configuration
Experience working with RF Infrastructure Technologies to include Motorola SmartZone, Smartnet, Console Systems, ASTRO Conventional and Trunked equipment is strongly preferred
The ideal candidate will have excellent skills in the use of various communications test equipment including:
Communication System Analyzers
Ethernet Link test sets
T1 Test Sets
TIMS (Transmission Impairment Measurement Set)
Digital RF Power Meter
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills allowing them to build strong relationships with customers and their vendors, service partners, and other departments within Motorola
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and self-managed to perform the required duties at a distance from direct supervision.
The ideal candidate will be capable of performing maintenance of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure and troubleshooting to resolve system/application related issues.
Additional Information:
Experience with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communications systems and networking equipment
Unique combinations of both strong multi-site RF communications system and computer/networking skills are required.
Must have a current, valid driver’s license and no traffic violations
Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer
Must be able to work in an on call (24/7) rotation
Basic Requirements
- Associates and 2+ years or 4+ years experience as a technician, field/system, IT, networking, RF, LMR or electronics.
