SOX Compliance Manager
The SOX Compliance Program Manager will be responsible for planning and building project44’s internal control and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance programs and continue to evaluate the company’s control framework and policies as the organization grows through acquisition or organic expansion. This role is critical given the company’s global expansion and other plans. A professional that is successful in this role will be able to assume increasing roles of responsibility as project44 grows and considers future plans. The initial plans would include a significant amount communication across the organization about what Sarbanes-Oxley is, why it is important in a Company, and what it means to the Company’s business practices and culture. Next steps would be building a public-company ready environment (404a requirement only) with a roadmap to a 404b audit readiness.
Responsibilities
- Leads the planning, building, and oversight of the Company’s SOX compliance program and internal control activities.
- Responsible to communicate and update senior leadership and the Board of Directors on internal control matters and initiatives.
- Develops and maintains the function’s budgets, performance metrics/dashboards and audit files
- Plans, coordinates, and implements SOX compliance efforts, process design reviews and audits with minimal supervision.
- Serves as the key liaison between external auditors/regulators and senior management. Coordinates internal efforts to meet external auditor/regulator timelines and expectations.
- Creates/maintains SOX risk assessment, internal controls repository, SOX certifications and other documentation, ensuring information is current, accurate and complete.
- Key subject-matter expert on internal controls assessment and integration of acquisitions. Leads or assists in special projects, training and education on SOX, other risk management efforts as needed
- Takes initiative to continuously improve efficiency and effectiveness of the program through automation, standardization or streamlining. Seeks opportunities to evolve the program to with P44’s ever growing and changing needs.
.Critical Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field and CPA/CIA certification
- 8-12 yrs. public accounting and relevant work experience
- SOX and multinational public company tech industry experience preferred
- Sound understanding of applicable regulations and internal audit standards (SOX, SEC, IIA, COSO, COBIT, etc.).
- Enjoy building processes and leading projects in anticipation of an IPO or as part of growth steps
- Work independently and thrive in a fast-paced hypergrowth environment
- Multitask and prioritize own workload to meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Systems savvy / technology enthusiast
- Collaborative worker / team player
- Intellectually curious
