Department OverviewMotorola Solution’s is building a modern cloud offering for our largest product segment, which serves our public safety and mission critical customers. We are seeking a dynamic cloud system engineer to engage our growing customer base. The role will be located in our headquarters in downtown Chicago.
Job Description

The individual will be accountable for driving the following behaviors:

Hands on approach to engineering – when we work at Motorola, we are all engineers who are excited about technology. No hiding behind spreadsheets.

Creating a center of excellence for connecting customers to cloud – you will own both traveling to customer locations for deployment as well building a repeatable/trainable process for wider Motorola adoption.

Meeting team customer attachment goals – working closely with our product management organization, upgrade operations, and field teams, you will help drive hitting customer attachment goals on time and budget.

Improving our agile software development – as you optimize our deployment strategy you may find areas where our development team can improve our solution by reducing friction. In these cases international travel or coordination w/ our development centers will be encouraged. In cases where you want to dust off coding skills, our team welcomes software development opportunities in all technical roles. 

• Understanding of transport/firewall configuration

• Familiar with running scripts and configuring in Linux based environments

• Engineering or computer science background

• Self starter who is comfortable in a fast pace "startup" like culture

Desired Skills (Not required):

• Experience with Motorola land mobile radio system deployments or upgrades

• Experience deploying and utilizing security certificates

• Experience developing applications for cloud based architecture utilizing microservices and multi-tenant database architecture

• Demonstrated understanding / proficiency in application containerization (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)

• Experience with test automation and continuous integration and deployment

Basic Requirements

• Bachelors Degree in relevant field
• 3+ years of experience in relevant field
