Job Description
- Understanding Overall Process of System Upgrades
- Upgrading Operating Systems and Applications on Windows PCs and Servers used for system monitoring, Voice and data dispatching and audio logging..
- Carry out system audit reports on license entitlements and software/ hardware versions.
- System Health checks, understanding SNMP alarms and events
- Understand general system maintenance of APCO P25 Astro Infrastructure subsystems.
- Able to load software onto various network transport devices (such as Routers, Switches), and RF Site components.
- Understand system configuration tools, edit/track system parameter changes to configuration files..
- Collect log files and reports from Windows PCs and Linux Servers for troubleshooting purposes. Basic troubleshooting techniques required
- Document process defects for tracking purposes. Process improvement suggestions encouraged.
- Cabling and racking of equipment
- Travel is required for all project phases for preparation, on-site and post upgrade tasks.
- **Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer**
Specific Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of IP networking, switching and routing, firewalls, network design methodologies & troubleshooting (Ethernet, TCP/IP, L2/L3, MPLS)
- Familiarity with VMWare, Linux Redhat, Windows 10, Windows Server 2012 and 2016
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex topics to nontechnical audiences.
- Communicate work schedules, technical tasks performed and timelines to customers. Able to explain how specific tasks can cause system impact.
- Deliver regular status reports on technical tasks performed and issues encountered.
- Self motivated and able to maintain focus in a pressured environment
- Bachelor's Degree or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science
- Knowledge of VMWare, Linux Redhat, Windows 10, Windows Server 2012 and 2016
- Knowledge of Juniper and HP/Cisco Command line interfaces
- Knowledge of switching and routing protocols beneficial (OSPF, ISIS, iBGP, eBGP, M-BGP, MPLS RSVP-TE, and LDP)
- Knowledge of firewall configurations
- Knowledge in radio communication systems, radio propagation, RF, wireless or broadband/LTE
- Pursuing certifications through CompTIA Network+, Juniper JNCIA-Junos, Nokia NRS1, CCNA or similar
Travel Requirements: up to 50% regional travel is required for all project phases, from design through final acceptance.

Basic Requirements
Bachelors degree in Engineering, Cyber Security, Information Systems, computer science or 1+ years experience in Networking, LMR, Systems Engineering, IT or Field Technician.
