Job Purpose:
Vendor Management Specialist works with GIS Service Owners and teams on their supplier contract needs and requirements. The Specialist will also work with Service Owners and suppliers to build and enhance supplier relationship management.
Description:
The Specialist is responsible for frequent communications and discussions to maintain awareness and planning for supplier contract workloads. Specialists participate in the contract lifecycle management process by assisting with the submission of demand to Procurement and monitor the progress of requests on behalf of service owners. Specialists work with the service owner teams on supplier RFx requirements, participate on teams working with or evaluating supplier technologies, and partner with procurement buyers and RBC, COE. The Specialist will also work with Service Owners and suppliers to build and enhance supplier relationship management.
Additionally, Specialists participate and / or lead projects with service owners to acquire new or renew our contracts with suppliers. This can involve strategic planning, negotiations, leading a program team to reach agreement with supplier on a purchase or renewal of a technology or service. Responsibilities may also entail direct interaction with the supplier representatives, creation of supplier playbook, delivery of stakeholder presentations, and drafting of talking points for executive level supplier discussions. Communications to service owners and Director is frequently required.
Another key role of Specialists is to support, participate in, or lead liaison roles with GIS Service Owners and teams. This work involves close collaboration on procurement requests and contract completion targets as part of the service owner business needs. Weekly and monthly meetings are held with Procurement, GIS service owners and teams to monitor progress, plan ahead, and stay abreast of contractual needs. Accurate reporting and business intelligence insights are key requirements of these roles to ensure data and requests are not lost and timely completion of the request occur.
Additional responsibilities may include:
- Working collaboratively on cross division teams that are focused on continued process improvement.
- Supplier cost and savings analysis
- Assist in the development and deployment of Vendor Risk Management
- Building and enhancing Supplier relationships
- Working within the identified Contract lifecycle management process to ensure GIS's forecast is accurately reflected and that our contract document safe source is regularly reviewed and updated.
- Engaging with 3rd party advisory firms to enhance Caterpillar's market intelligence and negotiations strategies
- Collaborating with Business Resources to assess in process negotiations
Basic Requirements:
- Require an accredited, four-year Information Technology degree, a closely related technical degree.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in purchasing or working vendors or suppliers.
- Excellent oral, written communication, and presentation skills
- Ability to work with and influence internal and external clients/vendors
