The Role 

The VP, IT Operations, will serve as a leader within the IT team overseeing Infrastructure and Support Services. In partnership with the CIO and key business stakeholders, this role will be tasked with designing, building, and managing the Infrastructure technology team to support the overall IT vision and strategy at Green Thumb to ensure that our technology solutions evolve the business.

Responsibilities IT Leadership 

  • Contribute to the development of the IT vision; translate the vision into short-/long-term goals and deliverables that support IT infrastructure operations.
  • Partner with CIO and team to create the vision, direction, and standards for Cloud5’s IT Infrastructure services.
  • Provide expertise, direction, and assistance to IT Directors, systems analysts, IT infrastructure engineers, and other systems architects.
  • Direct support and expert resources for infrastructure deployments and support all business, compliance, and regulatory requirements, as well as operational service level agreements
  • Maintain and support the budgeting, reporting, forecasting, and cost models for infrastructure, and provide support to the CIO in developing the budget projections based on short- and long-term goals and objectives
  • Able to manage store and cultivation infrastructure.
  • Document and develop in-depth knowledge of the company’s existing IT architecture/infrastructure, and technology portfolio
  • Supervise and enable the success and development of the team, especially the management team
  • Capacity management, life cycle management, service management of Operations and Infrastructure.
  • Partner with counterparts within the IT leadership team to implement and operationalize controls necessary for Security, Business Intelligence, Technology Transformation
  • Build successful relationships and partnerships with other business unit leaders within the organization to solve business problems and provide support
  • Experience executing on security posture improvement plans across all aspects of the infrastructure (including endpoint protection).
  • Oversee the upgrade and ongoing maintenance activities of existing information systems.
  • They should have proficient computer hardware and software skills to include Microsoft Windows Network Operating Systems (NOS), Ethernet switches, routers, and access points.
  • Ensure operational efficiency for all IT infrastructure services are met through established best practices to drive efficiency, resiliency, and scalability
  • Operational experience of best practices for common ITIL processes (e.g., incident, change, problem, transition) with the ability to drive improvements across people, process, and tooling
  • Provide hands-on technical depth enables direct oversight, problem-solving leadership, and participation for complex infrastructure implementation, system upgrades, and operational troubleshooting.
  • Establish both operational effectiveness and performance improvements through the effective delivery of IT infrastructures services, including overseeing infrastructure management tools and their respective maintenance, configuration, integration, and supporting strategies
  • Strong, secure network design and engineering experience supporting multiple topologies and technologies, with the ability to provide operational support and hands-on troubleshooting guidance across multiple environments and devices.
  • Experience in managing hybrid infrastructure/cloud environments, including virtualized compute and multi-tier storage environments; Current experience with AWS services in transitioning from on-premise VMWare/EMC compute infrastructure to AWS.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles, providing planning and implementation leadership and hit defined milestones.

Governance

  • Assess and facilitate the communication of risks associated with technology architectures, procedures, staffing, and investments
  • Develop and implement process models and methodologies that ensure smooth, professional, and responsive IT operations meeting or exceeding key operational metrics and SLA's
  • Define and establish IT operational and tactical planning, goals, objectives, and operating procedures to meet global regulatory requirements
  • Oversee all aspects of data administration and security, hardware/software support and maintenance, documentation, computer and auxiliary operations, and quality assurance
  • Supervising, managing, and motivating team members to function in a goal-oriented manner

Qualifications  

  • Experience managing Infrastructure & Operations in a mid-sized enterprise
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Engineering or related field
  • 15+ years of experience in IT roles with progressive responsibility
  • 7+ years managing and leading a team of 20 plus team members.
  • Managed 10 million infrastructure projects
  • Strong Retail infrastructure background.
  • Experience with IT support processes and/or concepts: Continuous integration, SDLC, Pipelines, Incident Management, Azure cloud services.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, innovative, and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgment, common sense, and resourcefulness
  • Able to manage multi-location / offshore teams.
  • ITIL certification and knowledge about IT services tools like Freshservice, ServiceNow will be a plus.
  • Adapts and thrives in a demanding, fast-paced environment
  • Possesses a high level of critical thinking and are solutions-oriented
  • Operates with a high level of professionalism and integrity, including dealing with confidential information
  • Must understand and comply with the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of Green Thumb
  • Must have a solid understanding of the Cannabis laws, rules, and regulations and passion for furthering their understanding and knowledge of the industry and the laws

Additional Requirements 

  • Must pass any and all required background checks
  • Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry
  • Must possess valid driver’s license
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
  • Must be approved by state badging agency to work in cannabis industry
