The Principal Product Designer plays a critical role in our Product and Technology organization. This key leader keeps their finger on the pulse of their team, provides guidance on the quality of our user experience, and focuses on enabling a UX squad in a product vertical to achieve their highest level of performance. This includes partnering with product management and engineering to develop and understand strategy and priorities across products, guiding UX approach, working with UX leadership on resourcing allocations and needs, and making connections where common problems are being solved.
You are a leader in the UX community and are the "go-to" resource for UX designers in your squad, providing insight into product and UX strategy, priorities, and related work that is happening out of view from their immediate team. You also provide consistent updates to leadership on risks, challenges, and wins.
Defines and performs UX tasks, could run ceremonies and standups, identifies when swarming of team is necessary to meet deadlines. Leads the design and UX direction of new products, solutions, and processes across all stages of SDLC and PDLC (software and product development lifecycles). Partners with Design Manager to ensure team completes all necessary steps in UX process to deliver exceptional product, including design briefs, workshops, influential storytelling, prioritization, flows, research, content, etc. Oversees project delivery to achieve FY objectives.
This position requires commitment to exceptional results, a strong desire for continuous improvement and the ability to build a collaborative culture within User Experience and broadly across Product & Technology. This in turn will ensure we continue to innovate and expand our market-leading product suite.

During The First Six Months, You Will

  • Serve as a UX lead in defining and solving complex user-centric design needs
  • Utilize your strong storytelling skills to influence and shape the right solutions with key stakeholders
  • Familiarize yourself with product strategy priorities and needs
  • Keep your finger on the pulse of product teams needs
  • Partner with product and engineering to assure quality and timeliness of UX delivery to support product team delivery
  • Cultivate your strong relationships with product and engineering counterparts in the product organization
  • Partner with product organization to inform your management of your designated design resources
  • Manage risks, escalate priorities, and drive resolution of issues that could impact UX delivery
  • Lead UX squad routines and own work tracking and reporting
  • Identify skills gaps or opportunities with team members and identify areas of focus or learnings to help upskill them.
  • Provide feedback to direct reports through performance review feedback cycles when applicable.
  • Work closely with UX leadership to evangelize UX vision, mission, strategy, standards and principles, working with other PDLs and Design Managers to drive outcomes
  • Enable team to make the right choices, in alignment with our UX direction, to promote scalable and user-friendly solutions
  • Evangelize the standard of quality for work and operationalize our common approach for work


Required Experience

  • Experience working in an agile environment delivering UX
  • Minimum 1-2 years leading user experience teams in an enterprise SaaS web development environment
  • Broad set of UX skills, advanced in experience design and system design within a complex information architecture
  • Proven ability to collaborate on process improvements and influence product/engineering counterparts in an organization
  • Experience with complex design problems and/or major redesigns


Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with the latest user experience tools, strongly preferred (Figma, Sketch, InVision, Mural, Whimsical)
  • Bachelor's degree in human computer interaction, design, engineering, or related field
  • Has a solid understanding of front-end development (HTML/CSS)

  • Effectively communicates design process to non-designers, advocates for process improvements and makes connections to product strategy.
  • Relentlessly curious about current market and technology trends, able to adapt accordingly

This role can be performed from any office in the US. The pay range for this position is $161k - $213k/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual bonus and restricted stock unit grant based on individual performance in addition to a full range of benefits outlined here. This information is provided per the relevant state and local pay transparency laws for the location in which this position will be performed. Base pay information is based on market location.
