An Insider's view of Dotdash Meredith

What’s the vibe like in the office?

Everyone that we work with is incredibly smart, so I love being able to learn from my coworkers, but not just about what they do, about how they think. I feel like I'm always getting better when I get to spend time with people in the office.

Lauren

General Manager & VP, The Balance

What projects are you most excited about?

Atomic design is in our DNA at Dotdash. We're striving to have the dev and design teams work closer together and use a single source of truth for how components are pieced together using predefined molecules and atoms. This is exciting and innovative work that is helping us scale at an incredible rate and deliver on our promise of fastest sites!

Brian

Manager, Front-End Development

How has your career grown since starting at the company?

Since being at Dotdash, my career has grown exponentially in a very critical area: leadership. I went from a team of 1 to over 10 people and that has taken a serious adjustment. I’ve had to sharpen my soft skills by listening to my team and campaigning for them when obstacles prevent them from doing their best work.

Patrice

SVP, Brand Marketing

How do you empower your team to be more creative?

We do quite a few things to encourage creativity like hackathons, design sprints, and "Unconferences". That said, I think the most meaningful thing we do is to encourage teams to be autonomous. Having control and ownership over their respective applications gives our team members the freedom to explore ideas to solve their own problems.

Nabil

CTO

What’s the vibe like in the office?

The vibe in our new office is friendly, fun and welcoming. Our employees are starting to trickle back in and it's been so nice seeing everyone in-person! Our upcoming hybrid schedule will give me flexibility to work from home a couple days a week but then I'll also get the in-person time with my colleagues that I miss so much!
