About the Role
The Product Strategy and Development (PSD) team oversees product development and innovation; and manages Sustainalytics' product portfolio in alignment with corporate priorities. The team is seeking a seasoned ESG professional to support the development, commercialization, maintenance, and enhancement of our Fixed Income ratings products and related services. Our Fixed Income product suite includes Government ESG Ratings for both Sovereign (i.e. Countries) and Sub-sovereign (i.e. U.S. Municipalities) entities.
Overall, this multifaceted role requires someone who excels in a dynamic environment, is a creative problem solver, and is a team player. The ideal candidate is experienced in product development in the financial services industry, and in the application of ESG and impact research in investment processes. You will join a dynamic and strategically important team and contribute to the development of a vibrant community of product managers at Sustainalytics.
This role will be responsible for supporting strategic product priorities in line with commercial goals and managing the development of these priorities within the product development lifecycle. This includes defining the product vision, gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, and working closely with client relations, sales and marketing to deliver commercially successful products. The role blends strategic product management functions, including a significant client/market facing role, with overseeing product features implementation. You will join a dynamic and strategically important team and contribute to the development of a vibrant community of product managers. This person will have experience in both product development in a financial services industry and application of ESG in investment process.
The role includes managing a team of 1-2 associates and working closely with other product managers and our Product Operations team to ensure product development goals are met.
Job Responsibilities• Manage and develop sub-products within our Fixed Income ESG ratings product line;• Support Sustainalytics' Fixed Income and related products (Sovereign and Sub-sovereign ESG Ratings) and position these products for commercial success;• Provide insights and market intelligence to identify related market trends and translate these into product improvements or new product propositions that provide competitive advantage;• Collaborate with product operations and development teams - methodology, operations, IT to bring product features to market;• Respond to inquiries and provide advice to clients and client teams on the value and utility of the products;• Provide insights on the ESG landscape as it relates to fixed income and work with commercial teams to understand client needs and inform product strategy and development priorities; translate insights into actionable product enhancements;• Support the development and maintenance of product visions and roadmaps to ensure competitive offerings that align with evolving market needs and corporate priorities;• Lead the execution of the product roadmaps, collaborating with internal stakeholders and project managing the development lifecycle for new features in order to bring them to market.
Qualifications• 5 +years of relevant work experience, especially related ESG, sustainability and/or impact research, impact measurement, and/or impact investing;• Knowledge and/or experience in fixed income asset classes, including U.S. Muni Bonds is a plus;• Masters degree in related discipline (business, economics or finance) or Bachelors degree with relevant experience;• Product management experience preferably in the financial services industry or related services;• Experience working with clients in the financial services industry or in a strategic consulting role is an asset;• Experience related to application of ESG research in investment process;• Strong product management and execution skills;• Strong commercial and analytical skills;• Presentation skills (both in spoken and written formats), e.g. strategic plan development, power point skills, client interaction skills;• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of working with clients and supporting sales processes;• Proven ability to work cross-functionally with ease and manage competing interests in order to deliver strategic projects efficiently and effectively;• Ability to excel in dynamic environments where there is a high degree of uncertainty;• A genuine team player who is motivated to achieve objectives and overcomes challenges through close collaboration and coordination with other teams;• Alignment with Sustainalytics' mission, vision and values.
