Your role in helping us shape the future:
As a Senior Product Manager of Inflight Systems, you will help define and enable Intelsat Inflight technology solutions that transform airline operations and enhance our position in the marketplace. You will work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver Intelsat Inflight's offering in this area, delivering value for airlines and strengthening our partnerships with aerospace OEMs and third parties. You will be responsible for the end to end process and delivery of related features and commitments on behalf of your Agile team.
The Senior Product Manager (PM) is a member of the Product Management organization. You will be part of a highly collaborative, cross-functional Agile team that delivers against overall Intelsat Inflight business goals and the product vision. The PM's primary role is to own and manage the Team Backlog in order to iteratively deliver software and maximize the value of the products created by the team. The PM serves as the voice of the customer to the team, grooms features, define stories, and prioritizes the work across sprints. Through the Agile / SAFe methodology, the PM will collaborate closely with Product Managers, other Product Managers, Account Management, Development, UX designers, Systems Engineering/Architecture, Quality Assurance, Dev Ops, and other key stakeholders and represents the team in various SAFe rituals. We are seeking a PM who is self-motivated, able to adjust to changing circumstances quickly, has strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills, and is seen as a leader within the team, and the organization as a whole.
Are you up to the challenge?

  • The PM may assume epic ownership, breaking out epics into smaller features that can deliver value with each iteration, driving feature development, applying Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) techniques to define acceptance and related automated test criteria, and otherwise complies with the Definition of Ready (DoR).
  • During the Program Increment planning event, the PM is involved with story definition, providing the clarifications necessary to assist the team with their story estimates and sequencing, guiding the team on defining their PI objectives, driving commitment on external dependencies, and representing the team plan, commitments, and risks at readouts and management review.
  • During execution, the PM will attend regular Agile team meetings including daily standups, backlog grooming, sprint planning and retrospectives. At grooming sessions the PO will help the team to break down and estimate work and provide business value context. At sprint planning sessions, PMs present priorities, answer questions and clarify requirements. In general, the Product Owner helps the team mitigate impediments that might impact teamâ's ability to meet sprint goals and PI objectives.
  • Work with the team to agree on accepted story and feature completion. This includes validating that the stories meet the feature acceptance criteria, ensuring the appropriate level of automated testing has been created, and that the feature achieves the Definition of Done (DoD).
  • Collaborate with their team and any other stakeholders to conduct the team sprint demo.
  • Participate in the Iteration Retrospective, where the teams gather to improve their processes and are active in the Agile Release Train's (ARTs) Inspect and Adapt (I&A) workshop.
  • Able to vertically slice epics into features, and features into user stories so that the team can deliver value incrementally.
  • Act as a servant leader, promoting continuous improvement within the Agile team and organization.
  • Use tools like Kanban & Scrum boards to ensure the team is on the same page with goals and priorities
  • Partner in conjunction with the dev lead and Scrum Master to review team metrics and conduct sprint retrospectives to identify improvement stories that will increase the teams velocity and predictability.
  • Contribute to the Program Backlog by partnering with Product Managers for development of an epic, definition of features, and contributing to the organizations vision and roadmap.
  • Prior to the Program Increment planning event, the PM assists in reviewing and refining the Program Backlog as well as reviewing and contributing to the overall product vision and roadmap.


You should definitely have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Economics or related area
  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering discipline or related area is a plus;
  • 5+ year experience in Product Management or Systems Engineering or Systems Architecture role
  • 5+ years of experience in Avionics Systems, Hardware, interfaces or IoT data acquisition in the context of connected aircraft solutions.
  • High degree of proficiency in SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework), Lean, Agile principles and methodologies. SAFe for Teams, SAFe Scrum Master, Leading SAFe training and/or certification a plus
  • Experience using Behavior Driven Development for user stories and acceptance criteria definition; experience with Cucumber and scenario definition using Gherkin syntax a plus.
  • Experience with tools like Jira, Miro board, Jama, etc.
  • Understanding of technology and business with an established background in launching software or services in partnership with engineering team
  • Background in leading or doing software development
  • Able to guide a team or teams in a complex development and business environment and enjoy being part of a team that thrives on delivering exceptional products that provide value to the customer and the organization
  • High degree of organization, individual initiative, and personal accountability
  • Self-starter with leadership skills to drive team to deliver on organizations vision
  • Comfortable presenting technical concepts and demos to large groups
  • Strong decision making, problem solving, analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage, influence, and inspire partners and stakeholders to drive collaboration and alignment
  • Flexibility to work in a rapidly changing environment and lead a team through change


It would be nice if you had:

  • Experience in airline industry, eCommerce, or high availability enterprise level software products
  • Experience in aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), technical operations, flight operations, or network operations at an airline
