 The Digital Manufacturing Commons (DMC) is an online, open-source, platform designed for connecting digital manufacturing communities and sharing solutions across the product life cycle. Our platform is transforming American Manufacturing by democratizing access to collaboration and engineering analysis tools. 

The Institute is seeking candidates for the position of Director, Product Management, for full-time employment in our Chicago office. 

+ Position Overview 

The Director, Product Management for the Digital Manufacturing Commons (DMC) is responsible for planning, developing and implementing operations and marketing for DMC.  Successful candidates will have proven expertise in product adoption, customer retention, and user growth of a Software as a Service (SaaS) platform.

+ Key Duties and Responsibilities 

Marketing:

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies, identifying customer segments and building use cases to expand the pool of content providers and users of the platform
  • Drive activities that influence the market and energize the user base 
  • Identify, develop and execute on opportunities to expand the DMC user pipeline
  • Create and launch effective marketing materials
  • Provide market and competitive intelligence to differentiate product positioning
  • Develop processes to capture and address customer use cases
  • Communicate product updates and best practices for effective use of the DMC

 Business Development & Strategic Partnerships:

  • Create and launch effective pricing policies and schedules, service level agreements, and contract terms and conditions
  • Contribute high quality business modeling and business plans that clearly articulate solution strategies, go to market activities and key execution steps to include ramp up scenarios, pricing, investment, M&A, and strategic partnering
  • Lead the development, management and forecasting of comprehensive budget and resource management plans
  • Align DMC operations to goals; develop success metrics; assist the DMC Director in achieving targets
  • Develop long term plans for revenue streams and expenditures; scale DMC operations to provide member value within funding constraints, identify new sources of revenue and work with DMC Director to exploit opportunities
  • Develop strategy to attract, engage, and grow membership of the DMC.

+  Position Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in engineering or computer science. 
    • o   MBA desirable
  • 4+ years’ experience in a marketing or operations role responsible for growth of SAAS platform
  • Strong reputation for effective management, ethics, and integrity
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to guide and influence C-suite decision-making through strategic thinking, in-depth analysis, and fact-based, objective recommendations.
