Director of Program Management, Research Operations
The Role: Research Operations is searching for a Director of Program Management to oversee multiple priorities in collaboration with senior leaders. The role entails managing projects of varying sizes and complexity within the Research Group. In this role, you will liaise with members of Data, Equity Research, Manager Research, Quant Research, and Editorial, as well as with key stakeholders outside of Research including Products, Technology, Talent & Culture, and Compliance. You will work closely with colleagues across the organization both in the US and globally. Your work will support key initiatives through the integration of innovative Morningstar IP across our external-facing digital platforms for all audiences.
An important subset of the role includes supervising Research’s portfolio of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives and acting as the main liaison with Talent & Culture in this area. As such, the role is a key partner to the Head of Research and other Research leaders in supporting global communications, strategic cross-functional projects, DEI initiatives, and employee engagement. Responsibilities
Define and manage new research projects.
Track and report on the status of projects within the Morningstar Project Management Framework.
Become familiar with the systems and toolkit that support our analyst teams: QuickBase, Research Publishing System, Direct.
Lead the Research group's DEI initiatives and employee engagement initiatives.
Serve as the Research liaison with the corporate Program Director for DEI, Employee Resource Groups, and HR business partners.
Work with Research leaders to define and measure DEI and engagement OKRs.
Independently scope, plan, execute and support long-term, cross-organizational projects, especially (but not exclusively) around DEI, engagement, talent development, and training. Manage relationships internally and externally; serve as an ambassador for Research to key stakeholders.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree.
10+ years in business, research, or project management roles.
Excellent communication, time management/organization, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
Comfort in dealing with ambiguity, ability to create focus and keep the team focused on business objectives.
Familiarity with Morningstar research, data, and products is strongly preferred.
Passion for DEI and driving employee engagement.
Outstanding analytical skills, a high degree of intellectual curiosity, comfortable with data and systems and ability to engage with other senior leaders in addressing complex business issues and making data-driven decisions.
Strong interpersonal, leadership, written and oral communication skills.
High level of self-motivation with ability to own and drive multiple projects at once.
