Food Safety Program Manager
Summary of Responsibilities:
The Food Safety Program Manager is responsible for providing proactive leadership and instruction in the area of Food Safety across the Home Chef operating network. This position is responsible for for developing internal policies and procedures to shape Home Chef’s Food Safety department, working with in-plant resources to ensure proper implementation and training of all food safety programs, and mitigating food safety risk.
Build food safety programs:
- Develop an understanding of current state processes and procedures
- Conduct a gap assessment based on objective (e.g., GFSI certification, standardization across plants)
- Write future state policies and procedures and build tools/training materials to support implementation
Implement food safety programs:
- Work closely alongside plant teams to implement new food safety programs or rollout changes to existing programs
- Deliver training to plant FSQA teams related to program rollout
- Manage communication with plant and corporate stakeholders regarding new or updated programs
Conduct food safety investigations and problem solving:
- Monitor any food safety related customer complaints and lead internal investigation efforts
- Support corporate and plant teams with ad hoc food safety analysis as requested
- Other duties as assigned

- Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality assurance, food safety, food distribution, food manufacturing, supply chain, or related field
- HACCP certification and experience maintaining HACCP program strongly preferred
- SQF Practitioner certification preferredPrevious experience with GFSI, SQF and USDA audits
- Understanding of Food Safety regulations, laws, and best practices including those from FDA, USDA, and other state and local entities
- Knowledge of food microbiology, food safety, and food defense
- Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining food safety programs
- Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal skillsSelf-starter who is results-oriented, resourceful, and takes initiative
- Capable of handling multiple responsibilities
- Demonstrated ability to embrace change and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
- Completion of a two-year program such as an Associate degree
- Sedentary (Lifting up to 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and or carrying small items)
