Implementation Consultant, Indexes
The Group: Morningstar Indexes provides indexing solutions to measure and benchmark markets and asset classes around the world and offers a broad suite of global equity, bond, and asset allocation indexes. Morningstar Indexes are designed to help investors at every stage of the investment process--market monitoring, benchmarking, asset allocation, and portfolio construction. Global asset managers use Morningstar`s strategic beta indexes, which are based on proprietary research, to create investment solutions to meet investor goals.
The Role: The Indexes Client Service & Implementation team seeks an enthusiastic, results-driven Indexes Implementation Consultant to help advance our index products globally. The Implementation Consultant will lead index data implementation, will become an expert in Morningstar’s Index data offering and will work closely with clients, sales, product management, technology and operations. This position would ideally be based in our Chicago office, but we’re open to other locations.
Job Responsibilities
• Work cross-functionally with various Morningstar teams to manage all aspects of Index implementation.
• Be the subject matter expert on all Indexes delivery channels and options globally, and be able to find the best fit solution for the client.
• Serve as an escalation point for client issues during implementation, and work with technology to resolve any issues.
• Support business development and product management teams for client meeting preparation.
• Lead qualifying, contracting, and onboarding for Morningstar Indexes data clients.
• Create and maintain indexes data product technical specifications as required.
• Manage licensing requests for current and potential Morningstar Index clients.
• Support current and potential clients, especially in creating product launch collateral.
• Act as an Index expert and project manager for internal implementations of Morningstar Indexes.
• Utilize Morningstar’s software to compare our Index offering to competitors as required.
Qualifications
• At least two (2) or three (3) years of professional work experience, ideally in a client-facing role.
• Strong interpersonal skills and enjoys building relationships.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
• Work well across functional and global teams.
• Self-motivated and willing to take ownership of new responsibilities.
• Curious and enjoys problem solving.
• A pro-active and process improvement mindset.
• Knowledge of Morningstar Direct and Morningstar Data, and/or the Index industry is a plus.
• Interest in financial markets and services, particularly investing, and a willingness to learn about Indexes and passive investing.
Nice to have
• Technical skills and experience with SQL, Python and/or AWS.
• Interest in pursuing, or already making progress toward, a CFA designation is a plus.
