Packaging Development Project Engineer

Responsibilities
The Packaging Development Project Engineer will provide packaging development project support by developing, testing and implementing innovative, sustainable, and optimized for cost solutions for new and existing HAVI clients.
- Provide packaging development support in-line with the needs and expectations identified by HAVI customers; solutions should include a balance of innovation, sustainability, risk management, benefit and cost.
- Interface with suppliers, internal account management and strategic sourcing teams, and various customer departments, including operations, culinary, supply chain, and marketing, to further identify customer needs and solve complex problems associated with those opportunities.
- Coordinate packaging testing, including those at supplier and customer facilities (such as test kitchens, in-store testing, and any outside 3rd party test labs), and formalize test reports to validate and help “sell” new innovative, sustainable, and/or cost savings concepts.
- Proactively research the customers’ competitive set to support the development of a long-term packaging strategy.
- Assist in directing supplier resources in support of program goals andexecuting commercialization plans to ensure the product meets customer requirements.
- Develop and maintain packaging specifications related to new and existing customers’ programs.
- Provide support for general packaging development requirements including Alternate Supplier Qualifications, Case Pack Optimization and general process documentation.
Desired Skills & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Business discipline or Packaging Technology/Engineering or equivalent experience including;
1-3 years in packaging technology and/or business/packaging strategy development
Technical competency in the fundamental of packaging science including knowledge of substrates, structural design, manufacturing processes and testing protocols
Ability to connect abstract thoughts and ideas and materialize into an actionable direction
Experience in project managment tasks of scoping and managing project timelines
Worked with multi-functional teams including supporting the need to execute against formal objectives and business plans.
Excellent communication and facilitation skills
High level of collaboration and teamwork
