The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Procurement Manager to support our business partners vendor relationships by driving consistency and optimization. This individual should be a highly analytical, forward-thinking, communicator who will bring their procurement experience to our growing team. The perfect candidate will be comfortable working cross-functionally with business teams to understand key vendors and business drivers. Root has experienced significant growth in a short period of time, building from 60 to over 1,300 people. Given this rapid growth, the most successful candidate will be able to step into our fast-paced environment and improve our ability to guide and support our business partners through vendor procurement and management opportunities.

Reports to: Director of Procurement and Finance Operations

What you'll be doing

• Oversees the development, planning and execution of category management strategies
• Lead, coach, and develop a small team of procurement analysts
• Collaborates with the business to establish a vendor risk and performance management framework
• Plans and executes the sourcing activities for categories under management
• Partners with business units to manage and optimize vendor spend, service, and quality
• Leads sourcing and contract negotiations
• Collaborates with business and finance to operational the budget
• Drives continuous innovation and improvement in procurement programs
• Tracks and reports key performance metrics to inform strategic decision-making regarding the vendor landscape
• Develops and maintains effective business partner relationships
• Performs other duties as assigned

What we're looking for

• Tech savvy with a strong interest and proven success in procurement
• Excellent communicator
• Collaborator and ability to influence varying stakeholders
• 5+ years demonstrated procurement experience, preferably with experience in insurance, financial services, and/or a fast-paced technology environment
• Approaches problem solving with natural intellectual curiosity, open-mindedness, and comfort with ambiguity
• In-depth knowledge of contracts, category management, RF(x) execution, stakeholder management. Drafting experience is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree with analytical focus and/or procurement, supply chain, and/or relevant industry certifications
